HELP HELP HELP HELP

So as most of you know I have the worst puppy fever ever. ;)

Problem is I can not decide what breed I want next. I always thought I would get another EM but after being on this wonderful forum I have changed my mind.

I need some help to figure out what breed would be the best fit for me and my family. I do want a dog that is protective (Mystic is completely useless in this dept lol) of course good with kids, will accept new people if I say they are ok. (as the kids do have friends over a lot)

So what are your thoughts?

Rotty is a great dog.. That was the first dog I ever owened. He was smart funny learned fast was protective when he thought he needed to be and very accepting of people. now I have a rescue pit who is not a protector and loves anyone who.will give him attention and don't learn as fast. A bulldog mix which is my husband's and a gross mess lol and a Cane Corso who is just a ball of cuteness right now.

Well I'm partial to CC's...they are very protective of family and if you are very active outdoors they are great company on walks, while jogging or running and on hikes and at the end of the day will lay in the recliner with you and keep you warm!! Seems like quite a few people are getting DDB's lately, they are very good looking dogs...but I'm not very knowledgeable on that particular breed.

I too vote for the Cane Corso They are all you asked for above, but then again as I said before get at least one of each then there will be no regrets.
If I could have any mastiff I wanted assuming I want to stay married I would probably go with an English because I'm such a sucker for their looks, they have the greatest faces. Now I would also like to have a Neo due to their size and looks and how protective they are, however I could not rule out a DDB they also have such sweet faces, for protection I would like a Fila, however they don't welcome guests well, a dogo would be in my wish list too I love they way they look and they fill all of the above needs, but for the exclusiveness factor and for good looks and protection I dont think I could go wrong with a Tiben Mastiff. Of course the Great Dane would probably give lots of enjoyment and hours of entertainment especially as an awkward puppy.
I don't know much about the presas so you will have to get someone elses opinion for that. I also want a south African Borbeol they are awesome looking dogs and I have heard their personalities are awesome, you could also look into a Spanish or Americal Mastiff they are pretty cool too.

Well I hope I have helped you make up your mind here it is as clear as day to me what you should get next!

Love all mastiffs, especially the cc because of their commitment and dedication to their owner. Then again, that could be all mastiffs (I've only owned corsos so I wouldn't know) I think it says something though, if you look at the number of posts in each subforum, the Cane Corso surpasses by 10000 posts.

However be very careful with breeders and puppy selection, it seems that cc have more faulty temperaments than other mastiffs. Could be a fluke, could be the type of owners, could be the breeders. It would make for an interesting investigation.

On a side note all ddb I have met have been complete sweethearts and wicked dogs all around.

I think there are several Mastiff's that could fit that list. Just depends now on what YOU want. Some would take a lot more time and effort and have to be watched closer around strangers and others (with a simple "It is ok" from you) will accept quickly.

It would be a lot easier if you would just breed that boy of yours!!! Then I would have the best of both worlds. :)

That is why I am confused. I want my Fila but now is not the right time. :( Until this forum all I ever researched was EM.

I love the TM, really starting to like the DDB, and CC I just want more info on them. As to which one would be the best fit.

We seem to have a ton of CC's on here. How is their disposition? Are they accepting of people that you deem okay?

We are going to get another one as well. We've been looking at the "American Masti-Bull" and "Mastador"
They call them Designer Breeds.. I like them because it breeds out alot of the heath issues.. And they are awesome
Looking dog's.

I understand that it is difficult. Honestly, If I bred Ruger and I actually got puppies that were exactly like him....They would fit more of the Fila profile. Ruger WILL accept new people but it takes a lot of time and effort and he would not do well in a busy household with people (strangers) coming and going. He is more of a leash when you have strangers over and make sure noone gets inside the "strike zone" kinda guy. Of course, I am thrilled with his temperment but in a busy, "lots of coming and going" household it would be a lot to keep up with and hard to keep everyone (strangers) safe. I can't wait until you decide and get a puppy........:)

Of course, I am going to push for a DDB pup...:biggrin2:

Part clown, part protector, and all sweet love bug. Of course, a lot of mastiffs will fit that description...

What type of energy are you looking for? And I forgot where you live--- is it hot year round? Might be hard on the DDB.

But, they are very good with children, patient, steady temperament- but with a willfullness/stubborness that is hard to surpass, LOL.

And....did I mention how sweet they are?!

My house isn't that busy. Daily my dad comes over and the boys are getting to that age that they are gonna want to have friends over. So it isn't crazy yet. And one of us is ALWAYS home so we can watch him.

Will he accept people in the house if you let them in? Or do you have to put him in your room?

No it's not.. Ours was 10 months and not long after Christmas. Hopefully you'll settle on that pup that's just right for you soon
