Eye Surgery Today...Gulp.

No, the right eye didn't pop. They did a pocket and tack on it too. The haw just looks so much larger because of the clamps they used to hold the eyes open during the surgery. The left eye does still look like she has a cherry, but that's the swelling. It had gotten so big before the surgery it covered most of her eye. So, it does look better and will recede with time. Fingers crossed. And yes, she is a pitiful thing with the cone. But she pays me back everyday...the back of my legs are black and blue. lol.

It will be so nice to have without the cone. That thing can really mess things up. Hitting everything including you lol. Keep us posted on how she is doing. Her and kaz look so much alike!

They do don't they???? We have relatives in St. Katherine's, if we ever get up there to visit, we'll have to get the fur kids together.

Ah poor girl. Those cones can be dangerous. I learned quickly to reach for Kryten's face so that he could cuddle my hands instead of him trying to reach my legs. I still was covered in welts and bruises by the time the two weeks were up. Hope both of you heal quickly.

Well, now we have another issue altogether. She's stopped eating and drinking. Every time she eats or drinks we dry her chin, neck folds with a towel, but nonetheless have an awful sour smell coming off her. Against Dr.s directions, I took off the cone yesterday and washed it, really dried her chin/neck and put it back on. If I was her, I would be nauseous because of the smell too. Tried puppy wet wipes to clean and then dried, but it didn't help. I'm throwing my hands up at this point. Will take her in to work, let the vet look at her just to see if something else is going on. My poor girl...if it's not one thing, it's another. I am so over this. :(

Me too...Friday we found out they let my husband go at work. He's upper management, it won't be easy for him to find another job. We have a kiddo starting college in the fall. I think God is trying to tell me something. Life is FUBAR right now. If we can get her feeling better, at least that's one thing we won't have to worry about.

OH NO!!!! Life is not being very kind to you right now.

I am so sorry to hear about poor Baci :( How long does the collar need to stay on for?

Sorry that your husband got laid off. Fingers crossed that things get better for you and your family.

Wow life is sounding very challenging and stressfull for you. Im really sorry to hear about your husband being laid off but with determination on his end, I am sure he will find something even better. Things do happen for a reason so perhaps this was just a sign ?? It really sucks when you put your life and time into your work only to be treated like just another number and then next thing you know, your without a job. Really is shitty!! Hopefully it's nothing to serious with Baci..Poor thing is having to stay in that cone of shame...especially with these dogs, they are big slobber heads..I can only imagine what her neck underneath all those skin foulds looks like ....and smells like. Keep us all updated on her progress. How is her eyes looking at this point?

Eyes are looking better. The smell however. OMG, it's horrific. We dry her neck continually, but she has the most sour smell coming off her to the point it's making her as well as us nauseous. Got some Cerenia last night at work, gave her a dose this morning to try to offset the upset tummy so she'll eat. God, another week of this?????

I'm so sorry to read about all the troubles you are having. I had a pit bull who needed TPLO surgery to repair torn ACL a few years ago and know the pain of a pup who is incapacitated by surgery.

My Corso Duke had his cherry eye removed yesterday and is doing fantastic, only a little redness in his eye. After reading what you are going through I'm so grateful I decided to have it removed rather than tacked.

I am the WORST pet parent EVER. Took Baci in to work yesterday because of the smell, Dr. took one look at her and said "Take off the cone. She has one big hot spot from her chin down to her chest. All those folds are infected." How did I not see that??? I was drying her neck and chin continually. When we shaved her neck I was in tears, poor, poor baby. We scrubbed with Chlorhex solution and put her on antibiotics. Changed from the plastic cone to a comfy cone so I can take it off periodically during the day under super close supervision. Took it off this morning and got the blow dryer on cool and dried her neck and chin. I feel horrible....Lord...something good has to happen eventually... doesn't it?:(

Don't blame yourself!! These things happen, you did everything right. Onwards and upwards, put it down to experience but don't beat yourself up over it. It could have been any one of us.

You are entitle to feel a pity party for what you are dealing with, we all get to have little ones from time to time. You found the issue you recitified it and all will be well. Just breath, one day at a time that is all we can do, we have no control over some of what is thrown at us but you are doing what you need to with what happened and that is what is important. Baci, will heal and it will all be a distant memory soon.

Yes I couldn't agree more...There are so many of us on this forum that has blamed ourselves for "missing something" at some point in our life. No one is perfect and besides, I can imagine how hard it would be to see an infection brewing underneath all the foulds and that cone blocking off the view. Now you caught it and are taking care of it and Im sure Baci does not think you are a "bad parent" !! If anything, your doing all you can for your baby and that is more than I can say for a lot of pet owners out there!!! Now your party is over ok :)

Pictures please!!!!!!! I love to see pictures of her, she looks so much like my Kaz...Ill post some tonight too...
