There are situations when cross breeding isn't such a bad thing? Lukas mum was a rottie mastiff her mother was I believe in same scenario as in rottie and mastiff living together and male obviously catching mother on the break... I can't be to opinionated or I wouldn't have my luka today... When lukas mum was 2 my friend had decision of getting her dressed or letting her have 1 litter another friend had a male a pressa rottie cross so they decided to have 1 mating which was successful so luka became a rottie mastiff pressa cross mutt, mongeral ,pot licker whatever .... Out of the litter of 8 6 of the pups are amongst our friends so we can watch them all growing up . I was gifted luka as I have been a life long friend and they knew that I had had large breed dogs and would give him a good home
I will not be neutering luka untill the 2 mark but I will also not be using him as a studs as he has a few genetic flaws but under certain circumstances so called back yard breeding isn't just about profiting and blatantly trying to destroy a breed or capitalising
Shame on the breeders who blatantly do this but if this union hadnt happened then my luka would never have been here
Accidents do happen, THATS not the problem (well, it is, but its not the problem we had an issue with in this thread). The issue we all took with this thread is the very blatent attempt to profit from said "accident" (and no, I don't believe this was really an accident, and if it WAS if the OP "makes" money off the litter the next time definetly won't be). Doubull Mastiff Puppies - Page 3
You know if the folks doing these breed crossings were doing full and complete health testing on both parents, and had a specific goal in mind with the breed cross and a specific plan of how to handle any pups they can't find appropriate homes for I'd not have a problem with it. Thats essentially with the Bandog is, and I don't have a problem with it.
I have a HUGE problem with the "accidental" breedings that many many BYBs use to excuse their constant stream of pups. There are already a HUGE number of dogs in rescue if you want a mixed breed pup without paying a fortune. Not to mention the ruin that un-ethical breeding has brought to many breeds.
True accidents happen, and they can happen to even the best respectible breeders. Both dogs and bitches have been known to go through crates, walls, doors, and fences to get at the other, I even know of a case where where a pair litterly mated THROUGH a chainlink fence. But the folks for whom its a REAL accident, the folks who're ethical, don't try to profit from those accidents, and they do their damndest to ensure it never happens again, and to make sure that the mom and pups get the best care and that the pups go to the best homes.
