Doggies on the furniture?

Guilty here. Mine are allowed on the couch, with a cover, and they have an oversized chair that is the dog chair they get on any time they want. Not allowed on the bed - they have their own comforters on the floor in the bedroom. If on the couch and I want them down for whatever reason, they move onto the floor.

No dogs on the furniture here, but Buddha is tall enough now to drop his butt onto the couch, which he has tried just to test us! When he gets the zoomies he tries to use our couch as a bank for his 180 turnaround. We did just get him a larger pad from Costco to lay on, and when we rent movies on the weekends, we roll out a Memory foam pad to lay on, so Buddha can lay all over us when we watch movies. He loves the memory foam, I might replace the padding in his new pad with it.

I love my Brutus so much I want him as near to me as possible so where I go, he goes, whether that's the couch or bed. He stopped going upstairs though (where we sleep) so now he sleeps downstairs at night on his doggie bed or one of the couches. I think the stairs bother his hips or something. But outside of that, he's my human Velcro!

this is not absurd...dogs belong on the floor, not the furniture, especially large breeds. They have to know YOU are the master, and allowing them to share the furniture gives them a false sense of being equals. the only thing i found absurd is your reaction like a dog on the floor is so unheard of lol

Lincoln is allowed on the couch right next to me. I guarantee he does and will know who's the boss.

Your dogs can stay on the ground, any of my friend's dog can stay on the ground and I don't care and won't judge anyone for their choice. I'm letting my dog on the couch...where I think he belongs, and where I want him.

Also, I'll teach my dog "down" so if I don't want him up there he'll get down and I'll also make sure he follows the house rules when we take him to friends' places....

My BM has her dog beds. No way is she getting on the furniture. Her one bed is right beside my chair so she's always got me petting her.

We really don't know what we are doing here lol. My husband says NO, Ya ok since when does that count :lolbangtable: He is allowed in bed untill we both are there and then he has to get off.....wait lets correct that...then we have to pull him off. He is getting better though. He is learning that off really does mean off. We have had him for 2 months now. As for the furniture, he is allowed on one couch and when we say "off" he gets down. He has his bed beside our bed, and he doesn't get in the kids beds. He just really likes our bed. He would spend 24/7 there if we let him. As soon as my husband gets up for work he jump in beside me and cuddles. I'm absolutely good with that!

OMG I am still laughing at that. I am laughing now lol
I was referring to the couch. he listens well for the couch...not so much for the bed. But last night he actually listened and didn't protest. He went right to his bed instead of ours

I'm thinking of letting Juno up on the couch with me. Haven't quiet decided yet. When I leave for work or go get in the bed Juno jumps up in my spot for some reason. I either hear it, or hear about it. I just can't figure out why she does that but doesn't do it when i'm home. Probably a testing thing for my wife. Either way for now, she doesn't get on the furniture. The only reason i'm thinking about it is because if that cat can do it, why can't she? That's without thinking about the weight issue. 6lbs to 40lbs at the moment.
