  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Any ideas of what's going on.

Stella has had diarrhea all morning. It has mucous and some blood (red, not dark brown). She is not throwing up and she is still very alert an active. I am at work but my bf is home with her today monitoring her. We have a vet app on Monday with our preferred vet. We can bring her into our other vet today (we have an app in 2 hours, just not sure of this is an emergency or not).

Nothing about her diet has changed. I did pan sear a little bit of her good last night, but I didn't heat the bones at all. I also have been feeding her chicken necks and she eats them just fine (I used to give her naked bones but was worried about it causing intentional issues). She didn't seem odd last night and she had a normal appetite (ate close to 4lbs). The only thing I can think that could have upset her stomach was the chicken (I haven't feed her chicken in a while and she got a pond last night). But I gave our bulldog some and he is fine.

I'm not home to know what exactly is going on with her. He said she is drinking. But do you guys think I should bring her into a vet ASAP? Or would we be okay until Monday? I was thinking taking her to the vet just to get a fecal done. I just don't like this one vet because they charge an arm and leg for everything and I feel like they just do things for no reason. Let me just say that money is not really an issue here, I will spend whatever I need to on Stella. Even if I bring her to dr.dio today I will still bring her to dr.Simpson on Monday because I only trust dr.dio with things like eye infections or other things were the issue is obvious. I brought Stella to him when she had a intestinal infection and he misdiagnosed it. Simpson figured it out in no time.

Adam has not tried to feed Stella yet but he said he will soon. What do you guys think? I also gave her some beef last night that had been in the fridge for a few days. Def less than a week. It didn't smell funny or anything, but i did cook it a little jut because I wanted to be safe. Do you think this could have upset her tummy? It was a very small amount, less than a half pound.

Thanks everyone

The blood is kinda concerning. I'm a worry wart and wouldn't be able to go all weekend. At the same time would they give you the results of the fecal today?

And Adam just informed me that she ate all of her food with no problems (I had him give her a half meal though).

Has she had her Parvo virus shots? Ask your BF if the poop smells,, well just horrible is as best I can describe it. Bloody mucus diarrhea are Parvo signs.

She had something similar happen when she was a pup. We had her parvo tested but it was actually an infection in her lower intentional tract. And yes fecal results are given before we leave the office.

why the heartguard, does she have heart worms and are you in an area prone to heart worms?
I would switch to DE after the stomach settles and stop the harmful medications unless there is a specific reason she takes them.

Honestly, I give it to her because my boyfriend has been giving it to his dog forever an I just heard you are supposed to. But I never really looked into it too much. I did stop giving her monthly flea medication recently, I want to find something more natural.

Since the blood was a brighter red I'm thinking it was due to her straining to "go". There was a decent amount of mucous but not much blood. And we can push on her tummy.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try and get my bf to get the fecal in today. I hate that I'm at work! Also, I've been noticing weird spots on our floors (we have all white tile flooring so we see EVERYTHING lol). They are recent and I don't know what they are but I suspect they are from Stella. I think this because she stands in front of a puppy gate by our room in the morning and whines for us to wake up lol and there is a larger amount of drops just over that gate where her head would be. They are brown/purple in color. This one looks more brown/red, but sometimes they look a little more purple. Do you think it could be the RAW food? We wipe her mouth pretty good after she eats.

My bf thinks it the same intestinal infection she had when she was a 4 months old. I'm just not sure what could be causing her to get these infections.

How old is she? Could she been in heat?

red blood in stool is usually lower intestinal issue. Dark blood or coffee color is stomach. Could she have an intestinal puncture. You don't cook her raw food (bones) do you?

Just turned 9 months. Her area is not swollen at all. And these drops have been going on for a few weeks. I really didn't think anything of it, but now I'm starting to wonder what exactly they are. I suspect they are drops from her mouth because they are over the gate where her head and mouth would be.

Nope. Never given her cooked bones. They have a deer antler that they chew but that's it. The poop was dark brown and light brown, with clear-ish mucous that had some blood in it

I'm lost/done gonna have to let the Vet figure this one out. It's best anyways. Just make sure to keep her hydrated.
