American Bull Dog. Mastiff or not?

The laws are a joke. If we take some measurements from a criminal and then some of me and they are similar should I be kept on a leash?
And let's not pretend the police spend anytime at all making sure the dogs are not a threat.
The temperament tests are almost impossible and even the nicest of dogs would react to that much sensation after months of solitude waiting.
And let's not forget that the police rescued a dog, trained it as a sniffer dog, then killed it because it might have been "of type" .
I'm pretty sure it was not a violent dog but it died because the police "expert" said it was a pit.

I saw a show called Send In the Dogs the other week where a police dog handler and breed expert saw a dog, said to the camera that it was clearly a dangerous pit. She seized it on the spot and admitted to feeling no remorse as pits are killers.
To me that poor dog looked like a fat lab and it never put a foot wrong whilst it's owner was being harassed and having his pet taken away in a busy train station.

Jesus, maybe get a standard poodle? BSL is a very slippery slope and it sounds like a grim place from that perspective.

Oh god no. We also have a thing called the DDA (Dangerous Dogs Act). That act says any dog that causes fear to be a dangerous dog. So if you have a big dog and someone is just afraid of big dogs then they can report your dog for making them afraid. Its ridiculous. Luckily most of the people who enforce the law are not as stupid as those who wrote it. If an intruder is bitten by your dog your dog is classed as dangerous. If they bite a robber INSIDE the house then you might be okay. I asked a specific question of what would the law say i a person was attacked and the dog defended its owner during that attack....guess what....dangerous dog!

I'm really worried I have a feeling one of my non pit bulls will grow up to be one some day... :icon_bs:

Yeah they worded it pretty silly on that website, lol at growing into a pit bull. Is that kind of like what happens when getting a gremlin wet, lol.

Imagine a dog being fine as a puppy then as it matures an it't head widens like many bull breeds do, it suddenly gets classed as a Pitbull. To be fair dogs look different as puppy's obviously.

Take my dog for example.

Just after I got him at 11 weeks from RSPCA

I'm sure I've posted this before but had a friend that had a Doberman....their garage led to a door in the back of it, that led to a backyard. While they were 'chillin' in the back, the Doberman was alerted to someone in the garage. He chased the guy into the front and ran him up on top of my friends truck. The dog never touched him, and the guy was a known felon, with multiple warrants out for his arrest. He had moved a lawn mower out of the garage attempting to steal it. The dog was able to keep the guy at bay while my buddy called the police....they came and hauled the guy off. The dog got registered as a biter....one more hit and he gets put down....and this was in Texas. The dog is dead now.

That's disgusting the dog was just doing it's job and kept the intruder at bay without using it's teeth. Hope it lived a long and uneventful life after the incident.

Yep. Good dog. My dog almost got us in a bind with wanderers during Hurricane Ike, but we got out of that clean. He was just doing what he thought was right, and you never know who is coming up on you. They never should have made it as far as they did, and we had them keep on moving. They hurt themselves climbing onto vehicles to get away. That's all I got to say about that(Gump). :)
