How are things going?

Great thanks.
She's had a visit to the comprehensive school (high school) that she will be starting in September today. It's exhausted her but she's managed to be there all day.
Everyone is still on their toes around her but things are getting a tiny bit better every day.

Well an eventful few days this week. Luckily I've been on a contract job where I'm only working a few hours a day so I've been able to spend a lot more time with Caroline and the kids so I'm back with them by mid day. (And luckily all three are back to school so a rare opportunity for Caroline and I to.........well...you know haha)

The interferon is going great, no reactions from the half dose so the docs have approved the full dosage. The injections are now being done at home and I got to witness mum playing doctor for the first time.

Caitlin has learnt to cry wolf a bit because she's wanting to sleep in mums bed every night. In a weekend I've no problem with that (she doesn't take up much space) although it does mean I have to wear PJs so I'm red hot all night, but during the week it means I have to come home to get sleep and cos I wake up at 4am.
Her playing the "I'm poorly" card has to stop though. If she's going back to school and also changing school we can't have her using her illness as an excuse to come home if she just wants to because God forbid one day she really is bad and people don't believe her.

She did have a visit to her new school and I found out today that the older kids pointed and laughed.
Not cool. But the teachers were on the ball and put a stop to it along with Caitlin's friends sticking up for her. The kids are all going to have a lesson to explain to them what is wrong with Caitlin and why she is going to be treat differently.

So all in all everything is good. Here's hoping the next few months carry on on this upwards swing. Mainly cos I live this new cocky smart arse little git that Caitlin has become.

Oh and dads decided that his new house and wife cost too much so he will no longer be paying any maintenance for his kids.
What a cock.

Aren't you nice to call him something nice! There really aren't words in English to truly describe a giant jumping jackass that would decide his own children are not his first priority adequately enough fully define their inadequacy as humans.

I'm not normally one for name calling. But to decide to spend money on new GF (I know I said wife but they aren't married) rather than pay to support your own children is, in my eyes, a cock move.

Don't worry he's still super dad as far as the kids are concerned and I'll never say anything otherwise.

I was raised being told how bad my dad was and I know the damage it does. Better to learn in time than be told when too young.

I'm sorry he's such a prick, no fun to deal with for you or anyone. But you are a smart man. I was also told how horrible my dad was and I feel robbed of knowing him as a teenager. I never spoke an ill word of my oldest two kids' dad. They themselves came to their conclusions after only 2 meetings with him in their teens.

Best way. My ex's kids dad was a prat with us but good with the kids.
As an outsider I think I have a unique position of being able to see when mum is wrong and dad is right. It's not an enviable position trust me.

But hey if the bairns are happy that's the main thing. Mum can hate him and I can be....... indifferent...for the main part but as long as they are young enough I think they should think daddy is awesome. (I'm always getting told how daddy can do everything I can do better than me and I always just say "well I'll have to practise hard and get better then")

But in a lighter note.
Caitlin is doing well. She still has her bad days but every day her hair grows longer and her cheek gets cheekier.
She's now adamant that she NEEDS a baby or a puppy in her life.
That's going to take some explaining haha.

Though i do keep winding her up with pictures of puppies.

Great practice on your part.

I'm going to suggest a puppy is a lot less complicated!!

Well, I'd say it depends on the puppy ( based on my experience with both).

At least I could take my human infant shopping lol ... and she didn't have to be taken out in the garden at night to pee every 2 hours.

Well I woke up today to a girl wrapped around my arm hugging me tight.
I couldn't help but give her bald head a little kiss and hug her in to me.
She cuddled in until she realised it was me and she's supposed to rebel against me so she pulled away but she still allowed my arm to cuddle over her and around her mum. A three a person puppy pile haha.

She had a scan this week. We are waiting 6 months now for the next scan to make sure. Or hung has changed.
I keep forgetting that she still has the mass in her head so she still feels crap at times.

But, in keeping with my silver lining approach to all posts being happy......

She had a visit to her new school (high school I think) and all went well.
One kid pointed and laughed but the teachers sorted it.
Her form leader hadn't been told about her cancer which was a shock but she has said she will have a lesson all about cancer so the other kids understand why Caitlin is how she she is and why she isn't at school full time.

She's at that age. She's very aware I'm not her dad. I get away with stroking her hair and maybe a quick hug before work but that's it.

Mam got a phone call from the hospital yesterday saying the consultant was happy with Caitlin's progress.
So happy that he wanted to get her Hickman line removed asap.
This is great news for her as she's going on holiday with her dad next month and hopefully she will be healed up enough to go swimming.
She's been to the hospital today and has just arrived back from theatre where it was removed.
I'm getting loads of snap chats of a VERY happy young lady.
