Worth getting a puppy from Argentina?

Hi,

New to the forum. Have finally decided that the time has come to get a Dogo and wanted to know if anyone here has got a puppy from Argentina. Or at the very least, offer some advice about the benefit of going to Argentina. Thanks in advance!

Can't give you a direct answer, but in my case I was finding it difficult to find Dogos that were unmistakingly Dogo Argentino in their traits etc.... Found a good breeder in San Diego, and it looks like there is one in MN, but I ultimately went with a breeder in Peurto Rico.

Keep in mind that if you can't pick up your dog in person you're looking at a plane ticket either way, and assuming you're in the States, our money goes pretty far in South America. I've been obsessed with the breed ever since traveling to Argentina 8 years ago.

Good luck!

I purchased my Cazador De La Cocha from De La Cocha Kennels about two and a half years ago. I also purchased a female from Argentum Dogos from Argentina as well. A few tips that I could say is that if you buy from abroad and you ship your puppy at 8 weeks I feel it is very stressful for the Dog. My male I shipped at 4.5 months and felt it was perfect he was able to hold his pottie the whole ride. Also, keep in mind you are buying without seeing your dog and if there is a problem it will not be an easy fix.
