if your so offended by the N word why don't you shoot down to the south side of town somewhere along martin Luther king blvd and central ave and explain to a few of the locals who use the term in their common language that it offends you so much could they stop using it and see how that goes!

The word doesnt offend me, but me using it is considered offensive ( I am white). People can say it all they want, but Im not going to. And I think its still distasteful to use it, regardless of ethnicity. People who frequently use that word are usually not the people I want to hang around.

So I probably derailed this thread right from the start from what my initial intention was by including the C U Next Tuesday comment.

I really wasn't looking for this thread to be about common words that offend many people (racist, sexist, vulgar, etc.) We all know what those words are. I was thinking more along the lines of "moist". A word that's not supposed to be dirty or bother someone, but does. I've just met quite a few people that are bothered by words I don't think they should.

Words like surge, or thrust. Although I do enjoy the discussions about words used incorrectly too.

p.s. - This thread also wasn't started because of the recent discussions related to hair color. In all honesty, I have a friend who says she has three words that drive her nuts, moist being one them. I'm trying to gather potential candidates for the other words so I can be a pain in the ass.

the guys on the corner of martin luther king and central?

It depends on how they use it and why. I was making a general statement in that most people I have known that frequently use that word are not people that i enjoy being around, they typically have no problem using other emotionally loaded words or slang.

The way it's used in the hood verse a lilly white boy using it is not the same. I know many white boys who are from the hood and use it all day everyday. It's in the context. The two words aint even spelled the same. Same with the word cracker. If I say to my buddy as another buddy walks up, look at this cracker.... It aint the same as a black dude saying look at this cracker. Least not in most cases. Same with white folks and the N word. See the way Bloke would mean it would result in hs ass being handed to him. I know this by what I can only assume he means black folks on a corner. Where as from a black dude, he may very well call a white friend the N word as in buddy. Same with saying that cars gay, and looking at a gay guy and saying look at this gay dude. they dont mean the same

I just was unsure if he was justifying the use of the word because bacl people use it, so then it must not be offensive.

That was his intent I assume. But the word he implies is not the same word being used. Might have started as the same wor, but it has evolved like it or not into two words two meanings

oh yes, the other variation is less offensive and more widely tolerated.
