We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

What's the going price for top pedigree pups?

Hi, We have as well been extensively researching breeders and after visits and extensive communication, all of whom we found to be very knowledgeable and pleasant, we feel we've finally found our breeder of choice. Meanwhile, the pricing in our travels has run the gamut between $1,500 - $3500.00. These are with temperament and health testing and health guarantees (all of which we feel imperative).

The difference in pricing predominantly arose in terms of tier pricing their litters. Companion/Pet Quality Versus Show, or Breed Pick 1 or 2. For us it has been about finding the person/persons with whom we could genuinely enjoy a long term relationship/bond. A breeder who believes in comprehensive temperament and health testing and provides the ideal environment corresponding to our families needs. We've settled on a breeder reputed for treating their titled show dogs like royalty, truly extremely well loved, well adjusted, well socialized members of their family. We are presently with fingers crossed hoping there will be a litter come spring. The dam in this instance is GCH titled the sire remains unannounced. The breeder neither accepts deposits in advance, nor do they tier their litters according to Pet/Show/Pick 1, 2, etc. All pups in a litter are priced at $3,000. Cropping will be elective at our discretion but attended to by the breeder if we elect to have the procedure performed.

We confess we did gulp a bit, but as well, found their perspective and approach truly interesting..thought provoking and uniquely refreshing. ( Between now and then ..we can honestly stand to part with a few things on eBay for our pups bank and education fund ;)

Meanwhile, we have begun our CC library. And after extensive deliberations our family has finally selected a name for our virtual baby boy! :) LOL. It is frustrating to wait ..but we are doing our best, hoping that our dreams/prayers will be answered and become a reality.

Yes, there are breeders offering lovely CC examples for less money, but we have a really good feeling about this breeder and they produce very few litters versus others. We spoke with several breeders at length and truthfully, never thought to even ask price. We were honestly so engrossed in our exhaustive mission of finding the "Right" breeder and the Right prospective CC addition for our family. The breeder we communicated in depth with weren't about selling us a dog.. .in hind sight, it's become clear to us they were on a similar mission.. essentially a reversal of our own. Perfect.

Breeders only interested in generating sales.. we never actually had conversations with as their time is directly linked with "money". We have available dogs, these are the prices and we'll see you when you either get here, or talk after we receive your deposit and arrange shipping. ..

BTW, For us ..We realized their is a EU standard and an American standard for the breed and clearly a bit of variation, sometimes subtle, sometimes glaringly significant between the various examples of CC produced. We looked at a variety of breeders and during the course of doing so found "Antique" for example that reminded us of our Rotti, versus others appearing for us as extremely Boxer influenced.. and while some others we on 1st glance mistook for Neapolitan Mastiffs.. . some heavily flewed while others are tighter flewed. The breed is amidst resurrection yet in some ways a work of art in progress and evolving. We narrowed our search to the particular Look that 1st caught our eye and that led us on this search.. . none of which look like Boxers or Rotti's or Neo's.

We haven't even seen the contract of our chosen breeder and have a number of questions, and been encouraged to begin compiling a comprehensive list.. We have no doubt all ?'s will be more than satisfactorily answered in good time :) Actually, our home work assignment has kept us pretty busy.. .our friends and acquaintances know more about a breed they'd either never even heard of or knew very little about. :p

As for allergies.. we added heppa filters to our central AC/heating system and there are heppa air purifiers and if you have carpets versus bare or hardwood floors ..steam cleaning them helps. I guess it depends how severe they are though.. . We have a neighbor that sees an allergist as they refuse to give up their dog or cat ;)

In any event ...Please Keep us posted.. .Mary from Black Shadow CC, has helped our family a lot through this whole process and we just have to say this CC world is a great community and actually likened to a big family!!

PS.. Yes and verifiable Pedigree is important to us just as the temperament, health testing.. . versus some computer generated/fabricated nonsense, or verbal undocumented assurances.. . We want references and a big luxury is being able to drive to visit our breeder and see their dogs. This isn't always possible but we feel confidant and know when the sire is selected he'll no doubt be accessible.. and a fabulous example of the breed as well :) Heck, BYB's are charging an arm and a leg and others are selling alleged purebred CC's that unsuspecting people are purchasing for top dollar.
