The Winter That Won't End Has Me Getting Creative

I'm tired of taking half and hour to get the dogs ready to go out and then trudging through miles of heavy snow so I find myself looking indoor activities for my pups.

Here's what I came up ... inspired by Pru, my Am Staff who LOVES to disembowel toys. The girls LOVED it and spent about 45 minutes working. Zeek is still trying to figure out why he should care about a box sitting on the floor. :)

All it is is a handful of smelly treats wrapped in rags and then rags shoved in a box with holes cut out. Clean up was Super Easy!!

I tried that once. Kryten simply destroyed the box. Jiggers was starting to try and get them out but once he saw Kryten he ripped his apart too.
This winter has been horrible. I as so not looking forward to shovelling more snow tomorrow.

I may try the box game. I agree, winter is tough, I have invented so many different indoor games, I tie a toy pig to a chair with a rope and she tries to get it off, I had put treats in a muffin pan and covered them with balls, she just stared at the pan on the floor, it was funny. It's a challenge to keep them entertained in the house, one thing works for us is lots of lasting chew treats (they don't last that long, unfortunately) & then it's just a matter of going outside & getting cold & muddy.:)

Ok so I loved this idea so I grabbed a box, cut some holes, stuffed it with some treat-filled rags and let her at it. She was doing really well....until she tried to eat an entire wash cloth. She’s never done that before so I didn’t expect it lol. So I just emptied out the rags and now she has a big box with holes to toss around until the treats fall out.

And how about the Christmas when the children ignored expensive gifts and dug out the pots and pans to play with....this treat in the box playtime idea is a dandy....I may try that myself, although I don't mind getting out for half and hour in the Pennsylvania snow to let the 2 doggies have some fun doing what they do. After a clean up recently, I put the bag under my windshield wiper and was ready to leave a friend's house. A guy came out of a neighboring house and said, "Hey Mister...you have a bag on the front of your car and it might be something important." I thought to myself, "It's not really very important." I thanked him and I left. Funny stuff !! Have a great day !! Pic, if it uploads, is a shot of my two buddies when the weather was nicer. File must have been too big...that happens a lot. I may have to give up on the picture...here's one of the boys asleep with Coal's black leg on Mr. Chev...they get along. Looks like last Christmas.002.JPG

My guys are box destroyers too. They don't care about what I put in the boxes at all. It makes it hard to play 100 things to do with a box, lol. All of my very best dogs have been beer drinkers and box destroyers.

In the end, Lila shredded the box as well, but hey, it's one less box I have to tear down. :)
