Did any one else notice that a lot people only know this breed from turner and hooch? You say dogue de bordeaux or french mastiff and they have no idea what you are talking about, but you ask "you ever seen Turner and Hooch?" And they understand :p

I just brought home my first DDB pup, and have been told more times than I can count that I have to call him hooch. Not happening!

Haha, soo true! Every time I have Lola out, I start with DDB, then french mastiff, have you ever seen Turner and Hooch? A few times (with females lol) I have said in Sex and the City, when Carrie is in France?

That's what I get too. They will ask, "Is that the dog from Turner and Hooch or Sandlot?" I tell them yes, he is a DDB. They smile and say, "ok."

All the time. I hear, "Hey, it's the Hooch dog!"; or that's the dog from Sandlot...

One guy said to me, "Should I call Tom Hanks and tell him you have his dog...?", LOL.

We get that a lot also believe it or not because mine are still pups we get 'is it a sharpei' i mean really??? Do they look like one??

Ugh- the Shar-pei thing I get All. The. Time.

I mean, even if you reduce the size about 100 pounds, their facial structures are so different...but, people see wrinkles, and that's all they know.

I get "he's a big pit bull." I usually tell them, yes he is because if I tell them he is a DDB, they look at me like I'm speaking Latin to them.

Usually people just stare or ask me what kind of mix he is. The other day though was the best. I had Kronos at the Petco do it yourself dog wash when 2 guys in their early twenties strutted by and said "man that American bully has a nice head too bad he isn't as short as he should be so he doesn't look buff enough otherwise I'd get some pups of that boy" Before i could say anything a little old lady who was washing her yorkie said very loudly "That is obviously a Dogue de Bordeaux and you clearly have no idea what you are talking about" I laughed so hard when the young guys walked off I just couldn't help myself

Haha! I can just picture a little old lady telling off the 2 guys:p
I've never been asked if he was a shar pei, but people always think hes a pit.
