I own two mastiffs. Dude is a bullmastiff and Clarabelle is an English mastiff. I love my dogs but I don't love their smell. What do you bathe your dogs in that is gentle on their skin but makes them smell better???? I know with the drooling I doubt they ever smell fantastic all the time- but I know there has to be something better to wash them with.
Thanks

If you are in the US , PetEdge make a great "freshpet" shampoo that is reasonably priced and works great ! We use it in our kennel on all the boarding dogs too ... dilutes out very economically. If your dogs have not been washed lately and are "greasy" do a 1st prewash with dish soap as it cuts the grease really well, then follow that with a smell good wash and you should be good. Also dry them off as fast as you can as that reduces D.O. too ( doggie odor) - dripping dry does not result in a dog that smells as fresh

Is this shampoo green? I believe you dilute it like 16:1 or 32:1, I can't remember. If it's what I'm thinking of this shampoo is fantastic. When I was grooming I used it on all my dogs & even some cats. It's gentle on the skin & smells great. I also agree with drying the dogs ASAP & all the way through as it will cut down on the wet dog or dog odor. Some people give their dogs baths as often as once a week, which is ok, but I'd really recommend bathing only as much as every 3-4 weeks. Maybe a couple more if you can stand it.

There's another shampoo that pet edge offers & it's baby powder. It's easy on the skin but the perfume is a tad but stronger than with the oatmeal. I have my groomer use that on my yorkie mix & she always feels so soft & smells great for weeks.

In between baths you can use baby wipes to clean up feet, private areas, etc. And there's some colognes you can buy to spray on them as well.

What do you feed? The quality and ingredients can profoundly affect odor and overall skin/coat health.

You can also give them a dry bath by sprinkling baking soda on them, massage and brush it out. It is messy so do it out side.

the freshpet is orange - works so great ! we use baby powder too in the kennel - but the smell does not last as long on the dogs as the freshpet does. :)

I'd look into this, too.
Since we've gone raw, we only bathe Denna about once every 6 weeks. Mostly because she likes to roll around in the yard...

We have had Menace for a month and he doesn't smell bad at all. Is that normal? He is a priss, so he hasn't gotten muddy yet. So, no bath. I am not looking forward to it.

I only bathe Jade if she gets in the lake. But Boerboels shed dirt and grim like ducks do water also she does not smell so no bath until it's needed. Another benifit of the RAW diet.

I bathe Ruger at least once a week and I use dawn dish liquid. I have been using this for many years on all of my dogs. His fur is beautiful and he has never had a skin problem. It makes him smell clean, not flowery and seems to last longer than shampoos. I have tried a few since I had Ruger but I haven't gotten the results that I have with Dawn.

We use an oatmeal shampoo, or when the mosquitoes are bad, we use a goat's milk soap that a friend makes. It has a bit of citronella in it, & seems to cut back on the skeeter bites. But in between we use this stuff:
Amazon.com: Chris Christensen - ICE ON ICE Detangler and Finishing Spray, ready to use 16oz.: Pet Supplies
It's suposed to be a detangler but it also pulls a lot of dirt & oils out of their coats. Nice smell too.
You can also use a soft wet cloth & wipe out their face wrinkles. A lot of "stuff" accumulates there, causing odor.
