  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

So intelligent...

I'm a, relatively, new fila owner (OEM/fila according to the paperwork from the pound--adopted as an OEM/hound mix). We are so in love with her and after realizing what she is, I came here for advice and did research to the ends of the internet. Nowhere did I find how stinking brilliant these dogs are. We've had to sequester our trashcan because she watched us use the foot pedal to open it; she wants to see who/what is on the other side of the fence and learned to get on the trampoline for a better vantage point. We watched her cock her head and work out the best course of action.

They are very intelligent, but are under rated because of their stubbornness since they like to think for themselves and not just do things because they are told to.

VROD, HA! my bitch does that too... we had a reg. trash can that she went through daily, we got the foot peddle one and she figured that out in a few days.. we lock our garbage up in the laundry room now.. lets see this tricky bitch get past that now, lol. Filas are undercover ninjas! Tjovan is correct as well.

It's really hard to remember how smart they are when they're snoring on the floor next to you with their limbs strewn about. Or when your dog is looking up at you with that oh-so-dignified derpy expression and the tongue is lolling out of the back and side of the mouth.

BE NOT FOOLED! 'TIS A RUSE!

I'll make Taurus "do the work" to get his treat, but he goes through all the commands I usually do before I can give them, even if I've been changing it up. He'll sit, go down, try to give me his right/left hand (yes, this dog knows his right from his left now) and coerces the cat into getting up to the treat cabinet.

He will. not. stay. Not for me. For Food Lady? Sure. For Daddy? Sure. For me? Not a chance.

He knows where we keep his toys. He opens it and strews them about. Spelling things does nothing. He's picked up on the pattern.

Nightmare Dog: Border Collie/Australian Shepherd/Fila Brasiliero mix. No thanks, I don't want a dog that's smarter than I am.

I KNOW my dog ain't stupid. I just wonder why he won't do as I ask.

"Come, Taurus! Come here! :D"
":razzberry:Nope!"
"But why?"
"Reasons!!!"

And all I want to do is cuddle.

And now my life will never be complete until I see a dog on a trampoline.

They are very very smart. And they can open any trash can known to man I fear. ahahahahahaha. We have tried a few styles. They learn very very fast. Kona knows so many commands. But can you motivate her to do what you wish is the question.
