Shedding like crazy...Black hair hair everywhere

I am so surprised the amount of shedding Zeela is doing for a short hair breed.
any suggestions on some really good de-shedding tools? Even a cleaning tool? Between my black hair and her black hair...it's a nightmare to keep up with cleaning our home. ugh.....

There is a furminator tool that hooks up to the vacuum..
There are anti shedding chews made of krill oil that are supposed to decrease shedding.
Gloves that remove hair.
Or maybe a Roomba to roam around and suck up hair

We bought the furminator. Not the one that hooks up to the vacuum though, I don’t think Lettie would go for that lol. The furminator was like $13 on amazon and we really like it :)

Ok, I will try the krill oil chews, thanks. yeah, I need a new vacuum, I mostly have floors but the couch needs vacuuming even when I put the blanket on it. Oh well, I just say hey, welcome to my barn. especially with all the rain we have been having, it's a mud bath!

I use a shedding blade and a pumice block made for hair removal, as well as a rubber curry comb. All from the horse section of Tractor Supply Company. I also have a furminator and I do like it, but I like the other options better for us.

Thanks! Yes, I was thinking of visiting the horse section at our feed store. A shedding blade, perfect....

I have both the furminator for short hair and a shedding blade similar to the one posted. I don't know about that one but mine the handles separate and it works better open. The furminator works but since I only have the cat sized one it takes too long to do most of Kryten with it. I've found with brushes it really is trial and error, my 5 pets require 4 different brushes and the one I had for the previous cat doesn't work well on any of them.

Thanks, Yeah, I am not getting the furminator. lol...but definitely want to get the shedding blade, I have been using old brushes & combs from when I was a hairstylist. Lol... I need something more blade like to get that underneath coat.

This is the style shedding blade I use. I've had mine for over 15 years and it just requires a wash to get the dander off now and again.

Do you use the shedding blade on the boxers too? My dogs both have such short thin coats I never thought one of those would be good for them. I just use a regular brush and baths once a month and pet wet wipes every now and then in between. Mostly I give up on stopping the shedding and do a ton of sweeping.

Black fur and mud is the bane of my existence as well. lol I am so glad we don't have carpet. I can't imagine how much worse it would be with carpet.

I actually just ripped out the carpet in my living room about a month ago. It was time for it to go & Zeela just pushed me forward. lol.... most of the time, I just go home & laugh at the rolling hair balls on the floor, like oh well....

Perfect, I am going to order it from chewy, do you suggest anything else from chewy? do you do anything for the dander?

Everything from Chewy! Lol. I do like the pumice stone for hair, but I didn't look to see if they sell it. My shedding blade also opens like Smokeycat's does, but I honestly have never tried it that way. I'm going to have to now. As for dander, my guys aren't too bad. I bathe infrequently and their food works well for them so their skin is pretty healthy.

I use it carefully on the boxers. I've mostly switched to the pumice stone because they're both older now and have skin tags and lumps.

Hmmm I have only ever tried the furminator. I think I’ll buy that blade and see which one is better. I have a feeling the blade will be better. I was nervous to try the blade because I’ve heard some of them will cut hair if you buy the wrong one. But if you ladies have that one, I feel more comfortable!

See, I feel like the furminator does more cutting than the blade. Go to Tractor Supply Company. The blade and the stone are cheap in the horse section.

Oooh ok. I’ll be right by TSC on Sunday. I’ll pick one up then! I feel like the furminator takes more of the undercoat and doesn’t really touch the top coat, if that makes sense? I get a lot of the fluffy hair in the furminator. Then it seems to loosen her “top hair” and I have to kind of wipe it off.

I've found that you need to be more careful with the furminator than the blade. The teeth are sharper and it can be easier to scratch the skin when dealing with a thick coat.

I thought that might be the case. The first time I used it, I could tell when it was touching her skin. I’m really careful with it, it does seem to kind of create dander. I see more flakes after I use it, probably from touching the skin more. I will be buying the blade this week. Seems like it might be a better tool, thank you!

Quick question (sorry, I don‘t mean to take over the threat :)
By when do Mastiffs usually lose their puppy coats? Bane is also shedding like crazy right now, and does even has a couple of minor bald spots. We switched him to Fromm Heartland Gold a while ago, and he doesn‘t get grains at all. I was thinking about other allergies, such as Pollen. I might take him to the vet just to be sure. He is going to be 9 months old this week, so I guess he must have lost his puppy coat already. However, that‘s his first episode of very heavy shedding. I was also thinking about a change to a lighter summer coat, but would there be little bald patches? The hair on his back is still very fluffy, and I can easily pull it out right now.
