I dont know if that's there standard but if you ask most places will keep your pup natural.... finding a good breeder is harder than finding one who wont dock for you...im sure Mike will be around to help you out

My only issue with finding a breeder who will keep a pup natural for you out of a litter is a lot of breeders place their pups by temperament and you don't really find that out until its too late to make the dock or not to dock decision.

Same here, if I did get any working breed (rotties included) I would want a natural tail. I know there are also those who remove the dew claws, but I believe that they should also be left on.

There are several that leave the tails natural. Comoore just had a litter and it is still natural. He also produces the working breed Boerboel following the original breed standards. Be careful of the SABT/SABBA breeders right now, there are a few trying to push non-standard dogs, black dogs and black and tan dogs, giants and poorly tested parents. If you are here in the US it might be better to find a breeder here until after the Registrar and the SA government finishes the one Boerboel Breed Org. BBS-RSA will most likely be the only way to get a BB out of Africa pretty soon. BTW Fuller BB just dropped a litter here in the US and they have tails.

I have been doing research on all the molossers, mainly the Boerboel and the corso and I have noticed that there are some breeders who remove the dewclaws. Is this ok? I was under the assumption that it was customary to leave the "thumbs" on working breeds.

I have had Jade's thumbs left alone, both my mixed dogs also have them and I have not had any issues except a decent scratch on my torso from a hug. There is no way to tell on a young pup if the dewclaw will be fully attached so many farmers would just nip them off just in case they were going to be floppy which could result in a serious injury later on during normal work routines. I had a litter of pit-bulls declawed because the mother did have detached dews both front and back. I feel it was a good choice then. But would not do it again after having dogs with functional thumbs.

Pan has his front dewclaws. They scratch the crap out of me when he gives me a hug, but I an glad he still has them as they obviously help him grip, which will come handy hiking the mountain back country.
