Rescues in Illinois. English Mastiff

Hey!

I'm been lurking here for quite a while. I've fallen in love with the breed. Previously we had a Great Dane,
that we rescued from the Humane Society. Unfortunately we lost him to bloat, 2 years ago, poor guy never had a "normal" stomach after being almost starved to death, and having bloat during his neuter surgery.

I've tried Midwest, and Great Lakes and got no response.:( I've just recently tried Mastiffs R Us, but curious if anyone knows anything about them.

Thanks

So sorry about your Great Dane. We had a Dane/Lab mix for the past 9 years (lost him in April to a cancer tumor in his spine). He was an AWESOME dog. Such a sweet heart. I didn't realize GD's were one of the mastiff breeds until I joined this forum earlier this year.

We read up on english mastiffs after seeing a litter of mixed mastiff/st. bernard puppies up for adoption - which all were adopted before I could even get a call into the rescue group. We also fell in love with the breed, so we brought home Denna earlier this year. She's a dream puppy. We looked for young mastiff puppies at rescues via PetFinder.com, but didn't have any luck, so we found a local litter to adopt from (a very nice BYB).

I don't know anything about rescues in your area... hopefully someone here will chime in.
Are you looking for any particular age range?

I was hoping for a young adult. Nervous to go too old, as we were so heartbroken losing our dog!

I don't know where in Illinois you are located, but there's a fairly new rescue in Valparaiso, Indiana. Giant Paw Prints, Inc. I don't really know anything about them, but if you are not too far away maybe they can help you.

If you are unable to find a closer rescue, you can transport the dog to you. There is Dog Runners and Operation Roger who transports dogs all over the country.

Matiffs R Us is a new rescue but not new to Mastiff rescue. Founders were with Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue and MidWest Mastiff Rescue.
