We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.
Ok so I started raw feeding 3 days ago, and it looks like they a losing some weight is this normal for the initial start up or should I be giving them something else as well.
How old are they, how much do they weigh (or did weigh before you started 3 days ago), and if they're not adult how much do you expect them to weigh when full grown? How much (weight wise) are you feeding, and what are you feeding?
Ditto to the questions ruthcatrin asked. We can help you out but need more info. Titan has been raw fed since first of March 2012 and he's doing great and gained 5 lbs.
My Titan is about 125 right now and is 11 months old, the other pup is a Doberman and weighs about 45 pounds and is 6 months old. I'm giving Titan about 3 pounds of chicken and turkey drumsticks and the Doberman Valkyrie I'm giving 2 pounds of the same
So Valkyrie is probly going to double in weight, what is Titan (sorry if you said I missed it)?
Definetly go ahead and up the amount of meat they're getting, if you're giving them drums now you don't nessecarly need to up their bone amount, just the meat, unless they're still in the diarrhea stage in which case they need the bone. If that makes sense.
Say push Valkyrie up to 2.5 or even 3lbs, and Titan 3.5 to 4, and see how it goes.
So he's going to get alot bigger. Ok, definetly go ahead and up the amount they're getting, meat only if you can do it with out upsetting their systems. then when you work in organs do so as the percentage of that weight.
I usually figure about 3% of the expected ADULT weight, and pups sometimes need more, especially if they're active. I know of working dogs who're fed 6-7% of their adult weight.
WOW! Your Titan is going to be big boy. I agree with ruthcatrin. Titan eats 3 lbs of food a day. I follow 80/10/10 but not to the tee. Roughly, 80% meat, 10% meaty bone, 10% organs.
Depending in where you are: local farms, meat processors, food wholesalers, sales, bulk purchases.....if you're in the US I can get you a link for a yahoo group specifically for supplying raw dog/cat food.
This the common question of all the dog owners, I will recommend them to go for a walk with their dog after feeding them or they can also play with them, this will help them to digest their food and will keep them healthy also.

Feeding raw can be about the same as buying kibble and sometimes less depending on what you feed the dogs. I spend about $100 a month to feed Titan but his kibble was $130 a month.
Watch grocery store sales, look for co-ops. If you're in a farming area, ask farmers if they will give you meat or sell it to you at a reduced rate.
I almost forgot, advertise on craigslist that you'll take freezerburnt meats, the dogs don't care and people are always thrilled that its not going to waste.
