Raw diet question.....looking for opinions!

Well I am not sure maybe she had some bad meat but I don't think so because I am very carful about it. Would not having enough bone actually do that after 7 days? She hadn't had a problem until last night and oh my gosh I don't want to ever have to do that again!!! My whole house stunk and we were having a massive thunderstorm but I couldn't help but open my windows! I even put the crate on the deck after I cleaned it so it could be rained on and hopefully if I missed anything it was washed away.
Izzy had her first bath last night too lol then I also had to disinfect all of my bathroom and my floors because she sprayed it on the wall and the floor and it got smeared around all in all I think it took me about 2 hours hopefully i never have that happen again.
I did start chicken this morning and gave her 2 wings and some ground chicken equalling close to 2 pound of meat and she is still looking for food. I don't know if she is just obsessed or actually hungry. I guess we will see how long it will take to go through her and what will happen!

How much ground chicken?

Been there...done that... When Titan had cannon butt, I was cleaning, laundering and bathing him and myself. I was not a happy camper but I knew it was not his fault. It was my lack of knowledge of how to feed the raw diet so he didn't get the cannon butt.

If the cannon butt continues, Titan's lasted for 4 days, resist her system. Feed her boiled rice and chicken or beef for about 2-4 days and slowly introduce the raw meat. Or add some pumpkin abt 1 tbsp (not pie filling) to her food.

If you can get Slippery Elm Bark Powder it'll help her system cope too.

From my exprerience not enough bone CAN hit after a few days, not nessecarily within the 24hrs. And especially where you added the organs so quickly, I'm not hugely surprised honestly. Whether you leave her on chicken or not, for the next several days to a couple weeks, go heavy on the bone content till she's got normal poop, and watch her. Make sure she's got enough water to keep her hydrated.

She always has lots of water. Whether she drinks it or not is a different story! I figure if she is thirsty she will drink it. Today she has drank more water than I have seen her drink in about 2 weeks. I gave her 1.5 ounces bone and then gave a pound and a half ground chicken. Since she still seemed hungry I gave her another 1.5 ounces of bone and then about 12.5 ounces of ground chicken. It was just a left over that I didn't have to make enough for a meal and I wanted to see if she ate it. She sure did. She is very whiny today too not sure why. Maybe she isn't feeling up to par yet although she seems to have more energy today than she did yesterday. And when she pooped this morning before I fed her anything her poop was fine.

Cool! I would still increase the bone and decrease the ground meat until her system completely stablizes. Try drumsticks instead of wings, it usually has a better meat to bone ratio.

I did buy drumsticks but I wanted to start with wings because I didn't know how she would do with bone like that when i gave her fish i had to cut the fish in about 4 pieces she seemed to do fine with the wings though and wings have about 50/50 as i read earlier so for math reasons this morning I used the wings as well. Slightly tired this morning when I got up lol I will probably use the drumsticks in a few days when the wings in the fridge are gone. I put 2 days worth in the fridge. She hasn't pooped since I fed her and I have to leave for work later today but I will know by then I think and I am going to have someone come and let her out a couple times just incase.

Good idea for someone to let her out while you are at work, just in case. If it were me, I would increase her bone to about 15-20% until her poop stabilizes.

Welcome to the world of poop experts... hehehehehehehe

I work in a group home with people who have disabilities. Ok so I gave Izzy almost 4 pounds of chicken yesterday. She still moves her bowl around after but I am thinking really can she be that hungry. She does get half in the morning and half at night but really can she possibly need more? She weighs around 75 pounds and I am concerned with how much she is gaining because she was gaining about 5 pounds a week and then she gained 5 pounds in almost 2 weeks so I want to make sure she is getting enough. My luck will be I have the dog that requires eating 10% of their body weight, I know it!!!!

Also, as I fed chicken and I thought she was allergic to it, she seems to be fine with it. I was concerned that she didn't poop at all yesterday made sure to keep a close eye this morning but I also know sometimes they only poop once a day on a raw diet. She pooped but I am concerned with the size. It might be normal but it was maybe only a little bigger than my thumb and that was it. (I have pretty small hands) Probably the size of a mans thumb. Is that normal or should I be concerned she is not passing everything? She didn't seem to strain though. And she smells like poop. I don't mean a bad smell, I mean she literally smells like her poop. It isn't gas either because her gas has been bad at times. This is a constant smell. Any ideas? Sorry i know this is long!

You could easily up it to 5 1/2 pounds a day. I'd even go upwards of 6lbs before worring about it being to much. Just keep an eye on her body condition and if she starts getting chunky reduce her totaly daily intake a bit.

Pooping once a day or every other day is normal. Titan's poop is usually the size of a cat's poop. Eating raw, they have little waste because their body is using all of the nutrients and there is no waste (grains and chemicals in the kibble). Bad smell coming from her skin? Her ears? Her paws?

I am not really sure where the smell is coming from. It isn't her ears or her mouth and doesn't seem to be her fur. It wasn't there tonight when I got home but she is too busy playing with her antler to come near me and just went back to her bowl to see if food magically appeared lol. I have given her probably close to 5 pounds of food today. I would say at a minimum 4.5 I guess I should try her with 6 pounds and see what happens. I am gonna have to find a wonderful butcher here or buy a farm!!!LOL
