So Yogi and I just started an advanced Rally class and I really need to practice. I get lost on the course, can't hardly figure out where to go next and generally make a fool of myself. Not Yogi, he's fine, he knows what he's doing as long as I can figure out what I need to tell him to do. I'm wondering what you guys do for practice? Have you printed out the signs and set up courses? Do you set up signs/courses in parks and such to get out in unfamiliar environments? Do you just teach individual skills rather than practice the signs or courses? For instance, would you continue to work on front, pivot, call to heel etc. rather than put it all together in a course? I've looked at ordering signs and stands, but it's like $200 or something rediculous. I could print them out and buy stands, but just paper signs aren't going to hold up very well outside. Yes, this conundrum has taken up a good portion of my mental capacity today... especially since our trainer last night suggested I think about entering a show in Jan. I am so far from ready for that. We need to practice, ALOT!We are struggling a little bit with drop while heeling, and with Yogi NOT losing focus and trying to eat all the tiny little dropped treats in the training facility. Sigh, perpetual empty stomach, I swear.
