Puppy sleeve

Hey Guys,

I need some advice. Hopefully Deb gets to read this. Miel (3 year old DDB) will be getting a temp test tomorrow. She has never been trained and I don't plan on getting her trained. Just curious to see what she'll do. I ordered a puppy sleeve and have been using it as a tug toy and have been wearing it the last two weeks and she loves biting it and chasing me with it on. It's been in prey drive and its always been a game to us both. I follow Leerberg's paradigm on early bite work without a decoy. everything is a game and in prey drive. My question is whether this game we play will effect the reliability of the temperament test? For example, increasing her chances to bite the agitator?

When your working your own pup it should be in prey and your just trying to teach better grips, countering, confidence....honestly though it will effect a defense test very little...now it could effect the there grip and as long as your working a good grip in prey..it should only be for the good...but a dog is still gonna hit that fight or flight wall they have to overcome come a defense test....and that cant be taught...Now what could ruin your dog is adding to much pressure just be really careful about that you really dont wanna confuse them....I laughed because I wouldnt direct a question at one person in a forum post...could limit the responses you get in return...PMs

Tiger, Schutzhund guys say that you need to expose the hell out of your puppy to everything as well as to bite tugs, puppy sleeves, etc. I'm assuming to increase confidence. Now, on the flip side, wouldn't that increase the chances of that dog passing a temp test? And wouldn't that reduce the validity of the temp test? That's what I meant in the original post. Sorry if that got lost in the original post.

I dont see how it would...only because you could box your whole life and still never want to fight someone because your a pansy....now saying that...fila guys would say yes and that they dont ever introduce sleeves.. now if your worried about that get someone to wear a bite suit when testing or agitate with nothing at all before they get that bite then tapping them or re agitating after sleeve has been slipped and see if the dog re targets the person...but seriously I dont think it matters...just because there biting the same thing I think they go into it with a different mindset

That is incorrect... Fila guys would not say that especially not ones that know what they are talking about.. playing tug with anything ( a dish rag or puppysleeve) will not increase or decrease anything on a temperament eval at all. I am guessing you are wanting to test defense instinct and if so building prey drive does nothing for that one way or the other.

I need a sleeve. I play with Kona like this just no sleeve She left a nasty hole in my ass through my thick ass jacket. She is getting to strong to play with out protection. Being that we play with out the sleeve, but same concept, I dont see how it would hurt. The dog either has defense or dont. Even if the sleeve is all fun and games I would think a switch would flip when they turn on. I would love to come across a suit. Sucks to be at a full run and this bitch coes from across the yard and hits me right on my calf
