Number of show/breed quality pups in a litter?

Hi...This is my first post to this forum although I have lurked here in the past and especially on the breed.  I am looking for a pet quality Boerboel so I was wondering on average how many pups from a litter come out show/breed quality or how many pups in a litter are pet quality?  I love the breed as every Boerboel I've seen in person is just perfect.  Everything that I've read has done nothing but enhance this great feeling that I got from my encounters in person.  I know that there a very minor differences in pet and show quality, especially when coming from a quality breeder.  Temperament is one of the areas I'm most concerned with.  I'd appreciate any and all comments from experienced breeders.  Thanks!

I can tell that in my boys litter of 12, 2 were considered show quality by the breeder.

Really, that's it? I was under the impression that the show/breed quality outnumbered the pet quality. Just to clarify, when I say show/ breed quality I am going by the SABT standards...

And I didn't realize this was in the Boerboel section. :) I'm not sure how the SABT standards work, so I'll let someone who has some knowledge on the subject chime in.

Its going to vary. I've little to no Boerboel experience, but in general it varies based on the breeder's preferences as much as anything else.

Apollo's a TM, but his breeder's criteria was fairly simple. None of the pups had DQing markings or colors, none of the pups had deformaties or health problems, none of the pups had any identifiable conformation problems, therefor they all were "show quality" and she wrote her contract based on that.

Other breeders will identify one or two, maybe three, pups in the litter as "show" pups and sell the rest as pets, even though they may not technically have anyproblems.

Boerboels throw out from 1 to 12 pups, I have heard of a full litter with top score appraisals and other litters with no top score dogs. All of these dogs are pet quality regardless of the score unless the Kennel breeds bad temperament dogs. This is becoming a problem as they are breeding for looks and designer needs rather than true temperament dogs. The BB is a Farm Dog made to work and protect the farm, farmer, flock and family and breeders are making hard or soft dogs that don't fit in a farm environment.
As for show quality my breeders last litter produced 11 pups and 6 would pass in a show ring. The other 5 perfect for family pet dogs. When you check for a breeder always check out the parents before putting any money out for a down payment.

Thanks for the replies. I guess there is no for sure way to tell how many pups will come out to be show/breed quality based on sabt standards. As mentioned, there seems to be a huge focus on looks and not temperament. In my opinion a bb with a liver colored nose and the correct temperament is a winner.

Actually a liver nose would be a poor choice for a SA Boerboel or farm dog. The reason for the black pigment is for protection from the sun. That liver nose would get sun burnt then possibly infected and = dog fail. There are reason for standards in a breed.
