Hi all I'm mike from New Jersey im new to the site. I am interested in getting a cane corso puppy. We just recently lost our South African boerboel to stage 5 lymphoma. The house just feels empty now.

Welcome to the forum.
A house just isnt a home without a dog, I know how you feel.

I have emailed stormy knights , nj cane corso, and legacy cane corso. Has anyone had any delt with any of them? From what I've read on thier sites they all seem very knowledgeable. Nj cc won't have any pups ready until April. I think stormy has 1 or 2 ready now and I believe legacy also has some available . Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen Legacy Corso mentioned on the forum a few times. Do a search for Legacy on the forum.

I do not believe it was bad reviews.

It depends on what type you are looking for. By type I mean the look of the dog. There are various type of corsos out there. Once you know the type you prefer I would look for a breeder that health tests all breeding dogs. Ask to SEE the actual results. Visit as many breeders as you can and get a feel for them and their dogs. Don't rush into anything, take your time and be sure you are comfortable with the breeder you choose. I am so sorry for the loss of your dog. Good Luck!

Hi Mike, are you related to Jen J.? She just lost one from the same thing I think. Any reason you want a CC instead of a BB now, is it because of the cancer you are afraid it might happen again, or maybe to much heart hurt to have another BB in the home?
Anyways so sorry for your loss I hope you find what you need the most.

You are quite welcome. There can be some big variations in the corso for sure. Something else to keep in mind...when looking at breeders you want to see that they are working with their dogs. Whether they are showing their dogs, or working them in agility, coursing or other sports it's important. You want a well rounded corso. Too many breeders out there don't do squat with their dogs.

No relation to Jen j. I know every dog is different but I've been reading that cc are a little "less protective" than bb. Our Moses was a tremendous family dog and would have been 6 years today. He however never would warm up to strangers. That made summer get togethers a little tough. i had to start putting him away untill after everyone arrived. He was ok a once everyone was inside the fence. We started him in obedience classes at 12 weeks and continued with them moving up to agility training. A stranger would never be able to approach him especially after our son was born. I'm very aware that cancer happens I don't blame the breed or breeder. I have a couple YouTube videos of him under m1kechurch or powers legendary Moses. They are after the baby came so he's a little rusty.

Yes they can be pretty tense around strangers and some more than others for sure. I have been socializing mine since birth and she in just over 1.5 years now and I recently had some pretty scary incidents with her and strangers. So it is just a work in progress.
Good luck on your search.

Hi Mike,

We purchased from legacy and are very happy, Lexi is a fawn female CC. Great temperament and an awesome dog.

We got her at 3 months and she will be 8 months in December and weighs about 75 lbs or more.

Everyone that sees her falls in love with her.

Pete is the owner and he does a great job and is very helpful.

Good luck.

Vito
