Hi everyone!

It is so great to be able to connect with you all and look forward to learning so much from your experiences with this breed. I recently brought home a 14 week male DDB named Hugo and he is absolutely gorgeous! He has taken to his crate like a champ and loves playing with all his new toys and espescially my shoes haha. I took him to the vet yesterday to recieve to become current on his vaccinations, checked for worms, and overall introduction. The vet reported that Hugo was in great health and a beautiful boy. He weighed in at 30.05lbs at 14 weeks and I was just wondering if this was on the small side for a male DDB for his age? He looks great, kind of slim and is a very fussy eater. I have had to hand feed him for the most part for the week i have had him home. I am making slow and steady progress with his eating habits (playing before, watering down the food, and heating up the kibble). If anyone could tell me what their experiences with eating habits and weight of their DDB at 14 weeks i would be greatly apprective!! Again, so happy to be connecting with you fine folks!

Welcome! I wouldn't worry about his weight too much. These dogs grow for the first 2-3 years of life so he has plenty of time to get bigger. What are you feeding him?

My ddb that we brought home right before Xmas weighted 15 lbs at 14 weeks. From my experience the slower the growth is okay, each ddb is different and depending on the lines they have will grow at different rates. To get him to eat try putting chicken broth or gravy in his food. Then slowly start adding less until there is none. We had to do this we we brought ours home. Hulk is now 17 weeks old and is 22 lbs.

I am feeding him 50-75% Exclusive puppy food which i was given by his breeder and have been slowly integrating Wellness large breed puppy food 3x a day. He seems to like it alot but i have been careful not to switch him too fast due to possible digestion problems and diarrhea. Thank you very much for your replies and Hulk looks so cute in that picture!

I've always thought I got a DDB that was on the smaller side, but he is catching up. He weighed 15lbs at 8 weeks, at 3 months he weighed about 31lbs I believe. And he is now 5 months and a half and weighs 58lbs. Yours will catch up, the slower the better on his joints :)

By the way he is adorable!

Casey thanks, that was at 8 weeks old. Here is a semi updated photo of him. He decided that I couldn't shower alone and had to get in with me, funniest thing ever. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359244058.735854.jpg
