Glen- very interested how you are training the “no touch” off property. Our Boerboel is so quick to grab and eat ANYTHING on walks-hence the visits to the Vet with “garbage gut”. Diarrhea/ Vomit. Thankfully nothing of poison. It’s easier to watch her on leash but free range is challenging. I’m thrilled your pups are doing well. Any side effects? Our Dobie took ages to gain back his strength. Thanks for sharing!
Gandalf has had an upset stomache the longest, but seems to be out of it now.
The training, we used food they loved, had them attached to us so everybtime they went to even sniff what was on the floor we used the leave it command, weve always done this with our pups, when our kids was young now for grandkids, they have sweets ect and didnt want dogs ill. On walks we did the same, we placed food on walks, had them on a training leash, we knew where it was so could plan our training, our property we have been doing the same now, we give the boys raw bone and they often lay outside to chew on them, this is how we think they have thought it was ok to eat what was there.
We now put raw bone in a bowl outside, they can only have it on our say so, boels then removed, we put the same raw bone down around the property thats not in s bowl, leave it command even if they approach it, then praise and treat. 8ts been 3 weeks, watched on security cameras yesterday to see if they touched the meat, they didnt. You need time and patience, but its worth it, i love my boys, cant witness that again,
Iv also promised them the first bite if the scumbags come back.
