just wondering for you who use a martingale collar would you recommend a 1 1/2 in or 2 inch wide collar for averaged sized 1 year old female

I like 2 in collars. I wouldn't recommend fabric 2 in martingales. I had a couple and they were too flimsy. Get ones that are 3-4ply.

depends on what you want it for, the wider the collar the less effective the correction will be, canine equipment use to make them, not sure if they are still around but I loved mine and it must have got lost in the move here cause I don't have it anymore.

I use the collar made by Mike (shown above) and it works greats. A few of us on the forum use Mike's collars.

That bracelet above shows a new knot I am trying and it is about 1.5 to 2 inches across. I hope to have a sample collar made this week.

That new design will be able to have a buckle with pin in it. Just like a belt. I am still trying to figure out how to secure the loose end after adjustment though.

I saw the one you made for Deb's Titan and loved it. I'm thinking of getting one for Penelope but since she's a puppy, I'll probably need one that I can adjust.

Well I need to get this prototype one done and learn how much cord it takes. Once I am finished I will post the results in the equipment forum. The Prototype has a 1 inch wide fast release buckle on it but the next one will have an adjustable buckle.

I love Mike's collars, and I think that as I get Arty involved more in the local Barn Hunt club he's going to be getting a bunch more orders for the same type I have (I know for sure that one has already ordered one!). But yah, the downside is that its not adjustable. Speaking of which, if you can get a belt buckle style to work I might have to order one for my inlaws for their new dog....

Will let you all know. I really want to be able to make a double pin/prong buckle type.
Like these.

I love the paracord collars, have a corso breeder up here that makes them for her crew too although she doesn't sell them :(. I don't actually own a martingale as in our house they are usually on a training collar or nothing at all for playing out in the yard with each other. We have flats but we are going to start to compete with some in obedience where training collars like prongs and choke chains are not allowed so going to order some martingales to have on had :)

If you braid the D-ring into the weave (instead of leave it loose on the collar), you could braid it in an inch or two back from the buckle, and it would help hold the excess.
