Norman had something that looked like that and it wound up being food allergies not mange.Even the smallest treat that had grain, chicken or eggs would make him break out

Aguilarelias, make sure that they do a very deep skin scrape. Sometimes demodex mites are difficult to find and I know that tech students are taught that they need to scrape deep enough to draw blood. I also agree that her immune system is taxed by the current infection. That would make her susceptible to an overgrowth of demodectic mites. Please let us know what the vet says when you take her back in.

Hi everyone I thought I give everyone an update. So I went to the vet and after 2 skin scrapes they found no mange. He said that my dog is having allergies from fleas lately we have been having issues controlling fleas on my dogs so I will be calling a pest control company to spray my lawn and house hopefull that works

The good news is that it's just fleas. The bad news is that the suckers have become immune to pretty much anything. I've never seen as many fleas as I've seen this year. I used to apply a dosage of Frontline or Advantix in May/ June and was good to go for the whole year. Now, they don't give a darn about any of these. I have to use a combination of flea drops from the vet's office, insecticides outside of the house and a chrysanthemum based powder inside of the house, and baths, every month.

Yea that's how I feel I have been bathing my dogs weekly to try and help them out a bit but the frontline isn't helping but I think it can only do so much if my lawn is infested.

Glad you got in for the skin scrapes. I consider myself lucky that we've never had a flea problem. I do know that a lot of people have had good results using diatomaceous earth, food grade only, for flea and parasite control.

Frontline is the worst choice against fleas nowadays. I used at the beginning of May and two weeks later I was at the vet's because the pup was full of sores made by scratching, all over his back. I thought it was food allergies cause how could it be fleas when I had given him the drops.? Well, they said that Frontline doesn't work anymore and they gave me something else (Prac-tic). Haven't had problems since, as long as I've kep up with it.

By the way, I've seen ultrasonic pendants online, that should repel the fleas and ticks. Has anyone tried them? I would love to find something non toxic and efficient but I'm wondering if they really work and if the dog could be bothered by the ultrasounds.
