Is my puppy underweight?

Hello all!

This is my first time posting on this site, and I must say, you all have some beautiful pups!

I have a question regarding my "Dogo Argentino" pup. First off, my boy (Bug) is deaf, but he's aweseome! Second, I feel like he is smaller than he should be at his age, which is making me question his Bloodline. The person I rescued him from was convinced that he is a Dogo, he looks like a Dogo, and has all of the physical characteristics of a Dogo, but he just seems small to me.

He is currently 31.5 lbs and just hit 18 weeks. He's on a raw diet, and I feed him about 1.5 - 2lbs a day. I monitor his weight by using that 1-5 physical scale thingy; you know, feel of the ribs, waistline, etc... From what I've read around the posts, he should have at least another ten pounds on him. Am I not feeding him enough? Or is it possible that he is mixed with a pitbull? I mean, upon inspection, he has every physical trait of a purebred Dogo (I'd even go as far as to say he could be a showdog [ with the exception of being Deaf of course ]) cause he's so damn handsome, lol. He has a tinge of eyeliner on his right eye, he's completely white everywhere; with the exception of the spots on his belly, and like two behind each ear; he has the straight bottom incisors, and the classic black nose and dark eyes.
He has to be a Dogo, right? I went on that stupid puppy weight estimate chart, and according to them, he'll only be around 45lbs when he's an adult, which seems ridiculous!! Maybe he's just growing slow!? Maybe I'm just over analyzing everything.. lol.

A side note - he was neutered very young ( I think at like 12 weeks) and I've heard that can have an effect on growth of a pup, but I don't know how true that is, and to what extent if it is true.

What do you guys think??
These pictures range from when he was about 14 weeks to a few days ago. The close up where he looks like his head is huge next to his crate is the most recent.

Likes to drink ;p

and now he looks drunk lol

12 weeks is way too young to have been neutered as yes it can affect growth rate as well as impacting other health areas. So he may end up on the small size, but if he is ok medically and a happy, active pup then I wouldn't worry too much at this point about overall size.

Welcome aboard~ Your pup looks like a pit mix to me. His face isn't shaped like a dogo's face. His features may change as he matures but these pics look pit mix to me.

He's an adorable pup and as long as he is healthy, that's all that should matter.

Raw diet is based on expected weight. If you expect him to way 130 lbs, he should eat approximately 2 1/2 lbs to 3 1/2 lbs of food. Adjust food according to body condition.

Where does he fall on this chart?

Those puppy weight estimate calculators that I found online are useless. They told me that my EM would top out at 90 lbs (he's 190 last check and I don't think he's done yet) and that my Irish Setter x would be 35 lbs (he's 75).
He looks like a Dogo to me but I've never actually met one so I'm going off pictures. Also sometimes mixes don't look like mixes. Jiggers looks like an Irish Setter to most people as the physical Golden Retriever traits that he inherited from his dad are subtle. Also if he is just a slow grower he could be significant smaller than other puppies his age. Kryten was up to 20 lbs smaller than other Mastiff puppies around his age. That included some of the smaller breeds like DDB and CC.

Yeah I was kind of upset when I found out they neutered him so young. I'll just have to make up for that by feeding him better than I feed myself haha...

Right now he's somewhere in between the 4 and 5. That's the chart I follow. He looks super healthy right now, and that's why I'm afraid to feed him more. I want to keep him nice and lean!

Yeah see that's what I'm thinking. I mean, if he ends up being on the small side, that's perfectly fine; I'm gonna love him to death no matter what. But, I'm reeeeally hoping he's just a slow grower haha... I want him to reach that 100 lb mark. Either way, everyone loves him and already thinks his paws are hug; he's already an amazing pup, and I couldn't be happier. I mean look at that face~

Do not attempt to increase his diet to try and get him to a desired weight, this can have many negative impacts and health issues. Your dogs size is determined by his DNA, just focus on keeping him healthy looking and feeling, you don't want a fat dog with a shortened life right? Just be happy you have a beautiful dog and enjoy the exciting ride of finding out just who your dog will grow to be. Awesome looking pup and def does not look thin.

Thanks PrinceLorde! I'm defintely gonna keep feeding him the same way. I think his weight is perfect, and I would never want to jeapordize his health in the long run. I've read all he negative effects of overfeeding when they're pups. It's terrible!
