So wait, can one of you speak a little more about protein not being an issue? I've thought of switching Hamlet to the same food this guy is getting (cal and phos look good), but the protein is way over 25%. Does that not matter?

That pup looks great to me. If it is a GSD mastiff, I am so jealous.

No protein does not matter. However some protein rich food may cause softer poop in less active dogs.
One of the reasons I had to switch from Orijen to Acana for Shadow.

Actually I was told too much protein in the diet can cause excessive growth spurts and contribute to bone pain and pano. A raw diet is actually better with protein around 20%. Check out this page.
