First I would like to say hello, I have a few concerns. I purchased two puppies recently, two totally different bloodlines and I'm wondering about their progress.django male and Bailey female. They both seem to be healthy but my femal is huge compared to my male at her age.. 14 weeks she is 40lbs and at 14 weeks he was 28.... Will she be huge or will he 5 1/2 months 60lbs 21in tall be small?

No way to tell. Their true size was determined before they were born. Don't get hung up on things u can't control. Control what u can. Feed them appropriately. Don't over feed. Allow them to grow the way their genetics allow.

Keep them lean as they are growing. Too many problems can occur when u over feed.

Thank you for replying!!! Yea you right I shouldn't worry myself, it's just that my male comes from a BYB and I was wondering if that had anything to do with their growing rates.... I feed them 5 star dog food and it's impossible to over feed. I tried and the food was just sitting there when I got home. What you think from the pics?

I think the female looks more heavy boned than the male so I wouldn't be surprised if she is bigger than the male.

In case you didn't research it, one thing I'd recommend looking into is littermate syndrome.

Also, since your male comes from a byb, I'd recommend health insurance. I recommend health insurance anyways, but especially for byb dogs.

To answer your original question, I think your male will be small because of his less than stellar breeding. Your female looks to be on par with the Corso standard.

I am curious as to why you chose to get a pup from a byb if you have done lots of research...?

Pretty sure the one statement negates the other, honestly.

I am sort of wondering where the female came from - I don't know any reputable breeders who would place a puppy in a home with another puppy of the same age, unless they're being placed with a professional trainer.

To answer your question hector, Even though he comes from a backyard breeder, Django, dad, and previous litter mates are stunning! Leonites "The Big show" Sergeant is actually his Uncle and many more... So he have a great bloodline, which I would think should more important. I picked the temperament, etc... He is a wonderful male, hands down I was only curious on his size. So he is 5 1/2 months old, he weighs 60lbs, and he is 21 in tall... Is that short or will my girl be bigger? Either way I'm keeping my babies... My girl parents are FCI champions and that made me assume that she will be huge because of her championship pedigree and it seems her coat and skin is a lot thicker.

Also thank you guys for responding... To answer your Question Hiraeth I do have a professional trainer. He is one of the best in this area, sorry that it seems like I'm not a great owner, but I am... I change my dogs water everyday, I only feed them 5 star grain free dog food, the goes to the vet regular, I've house trained them, or they run free in my huge backyard which is a private fence, I bath both every weekend and I shovel my dogs devices up myself.... So I, myself think I'm more than capable of raising great cane Corso than some of the other reputable breeders.

Monroe, it sounds like you're prepared to handle your dogs, but part of being a good dog owner is supporting breeders who are ethical, who health test, who breed for a reason besides "this dog is really pretty", etc.

The more financial support backyard breeders get for their breeding operations, the more poorly bred, unhealthy and unwanted puppies they produce.
