Hey all
I'm Bina, the mommy of a 10 week old Presa Canario, name Bane (he has the same mask like the villain in Batman). Being a new mommy of this breed and new to this forum, I'm looking to share all of our experiences and seek any advice as well! I've only had smaller breeds in my lifetime and now that we're new homeowners with a large yard we've been searching long and hard for our little guy. He arrived Sunday afternoon, after a long and annoying flight from George with a stop in Chicago but he's finally adjusted better than we had expected.
He is a light brindle, born 6/26/13, weighing in at 11lb.
His breeder had him on a high premium dry food diet but my boyfriend and I made the cold turkey switch to raw by introducing green tripe for now, and boy.. does he love it! He's had his first raw whole egg (with shell, cracked up) and he enjoys a tablespoon of whole milk yogurt as well.
We plan on keeping him on the raw diet, and introducing other meats with bones later on as well.
He's familiarizing himself with the crate and enjoys it more than I had thought he would.
Can anyone share their raw diet menu's for their Presa's when they were pups? What bones are safe and not safe for my boy this age? Should I ground his meat or give it whole?
How did (and when did) command/training begin? Every pup learns differently, I'm trying to understand different experiences to see which works for us.
Because he is teething, he will grab on to my hands and bite down and I make sure to make that stop and replace it with a chew toy- any other suggestions to make this stop and not become a habit?
All advice and general recommendations are greatly appreciated.. Thanks in advance!
