First Heat

My 14 year old Basset was spayed at 6 mos and has had spay incontinence for years. Luckily Proin has worked well for her. We've had to increase her dose a few times over the years though and she still has days sometimes when she leaks.

For all those reason, Bea won't be spayed for some time yet...I'll just take up drinking again is all LOL. It really isn't that bad so far though

It really isn't bad...Zoe had her first at 16 months, she was her usual self but sleepier. We didn't have male dogs banging down our door & she didn't try to escape. She had her second heat in May/June & the only difference was her bleeding was a little heavier than the first but she acted just the same. Glad Bea is handling it well...it didn't affect Zoe either!

Man if I could get my girls to not have their first till 16 months that would be fantastic. I did cancel the spay at 6 months and told the vet I want to wait as long as possible. I guess if they end up having one heat and the first aren't that bad then so be it.
