hello, I posted this in another part of the forum
I was informed about a file that has been put in a boarding kennel
as the owner no longer wants him.

does anyone know of any mastiff rescues in western canada?
apparently the fila is aggressive towards other animals and people he doesnt know
any help would be great

I hate seeing dogs left because the owner decided it didnt work
(jerk should have done his homework before getting him)

No idea if they do Canada: Fila Rescue, Inc.

SOME mastiff rescues will handle Filas, and sometimes breeders will take in rescues. Both of those will take additional research though.

Maybe try PM Mountainfila I believe they live in either AB or BC and may have a better idea since this a breed they are more familiar with.

Unfortunately i wont be any help as i do not know of any rescues that specialize in filas anywhere in canada, i only know of the rescues in the states, DO NOT GIVE THE DOG TO Rising Phoenix Mastiff Rescue!!! i RECOMEND Devine big paws http://www.divinebigpawzrescue.org/, thats the best i can do for now. I have known this person for a very very long time, and if she cant help you i am sure she can put you in touch with someone that can.

Also seeing the owner dumped the dog off, im sure there is a paper trail to get some info like were he got the dog, was it a pup from a breeder or was it an older dog he got from jo blow down the street. I ask because i know a lady that was a breeder in alberta a few years ago but has since moved to Regina and had to rehome all of her dogs, do you have any pictures of the dog in question?

You were planning to adopt the ddb, why not take in the fila till you find a home for him, if you are close to this boarding place, go visit him and gain his confidence and see where things go, filas are awesome dogs once they bond to you, you just have to get past the wanting to eat you stage lol and then they become big pussy cats, moosh balls lols.

Good luck, please keep me updated just incase it turns out to be a fila from the lady i know, i can contact her.

I will try to get all the info I can.
from what I was told, the dog is very aggressive to people, and I cant have that right now with my home situation
I would consider fostering him if they allow that, I couldnt get any info being it was the weekend and nothing
but teens are working that dont know anything other then "ohh, that big dog its been here for months"

I will see if I can get on a paper trail.
Ive put the word out locally, but mastiffs arent a common dog around here

Any luck this week? The bonus for him being in a kennel situation is that he will not be bonded to a human so he may not be as bad as they say he is, once out of his kennel. And a word of warning, if you foster him, once he bonds to you , you will not want to let him go, that is just the fila breed, so be prepard lol if you do foster him, you will fall in love with him, there is nothing like fila love, no other breed is like them.
