I'm sorry to hear that about Aslan & his owners (I hope everyone is doing well). He's a very handsome TM, that's for sure.

There were a lot of beautiful TM's participating that day, but I think my favorites were Sierras' Sasha-Yakone Nanuk and Drakyi Lion of Judah (met 'm in person too).
There was also this gorgeous golden female I really liked, but I'm not sure about her name.

Sasha has matured so nicely. I always thought he was pretty, but now I think he is just stunning.
I love his structure, his color, his coat and the way he moves. Such a well build TM.

Ok, there is one pure black TM that is def broken....he looks at his handler the entire time while walking? Jesus, I am lucky if she finds something super exciting while walking she gives me a glance with a smile for .00001 sec. lol. Looks like I have a lot more work to do except the rest of the walked around like her so I don't feel so bad.

Yep, my pup stopped eating on walks months ago. If it is something new she may take it from me once but than often spits in on the ground. At our play dates though she is comfortable enough with the area to take treats in that closed area but not right outside it lol.

Apollo won't do that anyplace but at home inside the house. Even in the yard theres only a 50/50 chance he'll pay attention for treats of any kind. Makes showing interesting, but I do get a laugh out of how many other handlers and show people insist I just don't have the right kind of bait.....only to watch him ignore theirs too. He's ignored sausage, steak, liver, and homemade treats of all kinds....

Promise me you'll be there to video the audiences reactions when I use a papillion as bait ;)

(disclaimer, Apollo LOVES toy breeds, as playmates! Promise!)

I used my brothers boston in hand to walk her before when it was 3lbs and it worked. I don't show her this was just to walk in the backyard to prove a point. It was lab focus I kid u not.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments about Sierras' Sasha Nakone-Nanuk. I am very proud to be his breeder and his litter sister MaLei who took BOS. I am sorry Aslan wasn't there since he carries a lot of Sierras' dogs as well.

As to some TMs baiting and some, not. Sasha's dam Helena loves her food and passed that on to her kids. I have some that will not bait at all and then its just a matter of training for show. I usually find a key word or phrase that gets their attention when most needed, as in giving expression, bringing ears forward as judge looks on etc., etc., It is a lot of work if they are not foodies =)

Yah, we taught Apollo "stand UP!" and for the most part it works. I played around with using a turkey call (the kind that goes completely inside your mouth on the roof of your mouth) and he poses wonderfully for it, even in public, but I've not quite convinced myself to try it in the ring.

Congratulations Kristina!
As I mentioned in my previous post, Sasha has matured so nicely. He's always been a good looking dog, but now he's just a stunner.
I have met several TM's that were bred by you in person, and they were all great looking dogs with a solid structure and very smooth movement.
One of them was Sierra's Dante. A huge dog (over 31 inches tall) that moved like a cat. I was very impressed.

Thank you MountainDogs....this breed has been my passion now coming up 34 years!! I am a stickler for a dog that can do its job as well as be easily ID'd and sound, well moving! Health is just as important to me as well.

Sasha has always been a nice moving boy, very handsome from the start and I am so pleased with how he continuese to mature; heck, how the entire litter continues to mature. I have his brother here, Punky and two sisters Cassie and Polar. All three are gorgeous.

Wow, so glad you got to see Dante, he is very special, I love him! I co own him with Kelly Smith and I have his equally big brother Red Star here. We are hoping Red Star will be a daddy this year but only time will tell. Thanks again!

I feel exactly the same way and it always pleases me when I see someone who breeds one of the LGD/guardian breeds say the same.
Health, functionality and a correct, stable temperament has to come first.
Of course the dog has to be within the breed standard, but if it can not do the job the breed was bred for, has health issues and doesn't have the correct, stable and protective temperament, then that is not the dog I would want to own.
Regardless of how beautiful that dog may be.

It is incredibly important to find a good breeder. I firmly believe that.
Not doing so only ends in heartbreak and plus ethical breeders treat their dogs with care, another aspect I find very important.
Right now we have 2 Caucasian Ovcharka's. A breed that is so closely related to the Tibetan Mastiff and has so much in common with the TM's.
And while that breed has stole my heart, I hope one day (when we move to a much bigger place) we can also add a TM to our family.

I would love to see pics of Red Star & Sasha's siblings. Perhaps when you have the time (only if you don't mind of course), you could PM me a picture?
