EM breeders in Texas

Here are some flags I would raise..you can apply to the breeders you laid out above and come to your own conclusions which ones to contact.

My Red Flags:

Selling puppies on open registration for 1500 or allowing puppies to leave on open registration as long as you pay the money to have the open registration.
Accepting Deposits on puppies not born or even bred yet
Warranties that are less than 24 months
No apparent health testing on anything
Unknown bloodlines

Cautions:
No health testing indicated or displayed (they may have them, but do ask)

No titled dogs or any indication that they do anything with their dogs other than breed. While a title doesn't denote quality and while I don't have a problem breeding to a untitled dog with a fabulous pedigree , I still say proceed with caution.

Mentioning some great bloodline yet No displayed pedigrees (may be great, just not posted) of their dogs.

What I like:

Pedigrees displayed
Health testing performed and/available
Showing/performance something at least on some of their dogs, doesn't have to be every dog but some.
Puppy contracts and warranties that exceed 24 months and open registration given out on limited basis, not to just whomever wants to pay.

For the record, I've never heard of any of these breeders. They may be great, but i don't know them.

If you want to stay within eight hours of Dallas, you can do south Kansas City, Little Rock, pretty much anything in the eastern two- thirds of Oklahoma, south west Missouri, etc.

The Mastiff Club of America will have a list of breeders you can contact. At a minimum, all of those breeders have committed to a code of ethics (and like all things, some take it more seriously than others).

Any of those in OK, AR, KS you would recommend I have the MCOA list but its not helpful really none from OK, AR, and none that have websites for KS?

out of the Texas ones Bluebonnet: http://www.bluebonnetmastiffs.com/
and North Texas Mastiff seem to be the best: Home Page

I am open to suggestions I would hate to pay 1500+ for someone that is not helping better the breed and my puppy.

I'm south of Kansas City.

Quietwoods is in Texas. She is an AKC Mastiff judge as well.

Oasis Mastiffs are also in Texas.

I'm almost positive these last two have let's on the ground (or will soon). Not sure on prices, but I would expect them to be higher than 1500 due to the testing, pedigrees, etc.

Thanks for the Rec:

yeah checked with Oasis they were great but only had Brindle/Brindle breeding planned and I had my heart set on a fawn.

Quietwood looks like a great option but it appears they only have brindles as well. I guess Ill just wait for future breedings.

Not every brindle x. brindle pairing produces only brindles. It's not uncommon at all to have fawn pups. In fact, my bitch's father was brindle ... and she is fawn.

Did you ask either one for referrals to another breeder in your area?

My advice is to find a reputable breeder you click with, and then wait until they have a pup for you.

I am waiting on a Mastiff from North Texas Mastiffs, I am a first timer. But everything that I researched and all of the breeders I found, they seemed to be the best. I would REALLY like to hear from someone on here with experience with Terri. Really, she has been great with us and our mastiff is expected to be born anytime. She really seems like she has a passion for the breed and really knows her stuff

Never heard of them.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything ... but thought I'd respond.

Are her dogs championed and / or tested?

I googled them and although I have never heard of them the website looks pretty good. I would ask to see bloodlines and make sure they do all relevant health checks before you commit to anything :)

Most reputable breeders will not require a deposit before there are healthy pups on the ground.

If there is a website without extended pedigrees and/or health testing and/or CH'd dogs (not several generations ago, the puppy's parents), I typically get some red flags.

hello.

we are in central texas. i've been breeding mastiffs for 17 yrs now. We fully test the dogs we use in our breeding program and have been showing our dogs for the same amount of time.

I am the current president of the lone star mastiff fanciers, a club i founded back in 2003 (i think).
Besides my affiliation w/the lone star mastiff fanciers, i have also been a member of the mcoa since 1997. I am also involved w/my local kennel club the guadalupe valley dog fanciers, who i am currently a board member and have been the president for 2 yrs, secretary for 3 yrs and most recently the show chair for our dog show for the past 2 yrs.

I actually do have a litter of puppies right now. They are from fully tested parents, one fawn male and 2 brindle boys and 2 brindle girls.

I haven't posted on these boards in awhile but was made aware of this post and wanted to introduce myself.

My website is Thousand Oaks Mastiff if anyone is interested in seeing any of my dogs or pedigrees.

i also have a couple of pointers that have stolen my heart and urge anyone looking for a new addition to look into this breed. They are so much fun and do wonderfully w/the mastiffs.

As a Corso lover and curious novice to the EM's how can i possibly trust a breeder of your so called stature that doesn't have buyers for the pups? And now, you're pimping yourself out on a forum.
I find this very curious.
I did visit your website and now I'm left with more questions. Where are the puppies these dogs produced?

I don't want to speak for Courtney, but she did say she was made aware of this thread and I imagine posted on it because her kennel was mentioned. I don't know Courtney nor her dogs per say, but a breeder with a waiting list can still have situations where a puppy buyer is no longer able to go forward with the purchase of the puppy, I wouldn't jump to a conclusion based on a puppy being available. I recently had a litter of 9 pups, when I was about 6 deep on a committed list for boy I started to refer them to other breeders, lo and behold, I had 8 boys, that left two that I hadn't accounted for, well a couple that wanted girls went for the boys and that is fine, but I could have easily been in a situation where I had a couple available boys.

Fair enough.

1dogsnob.... Could you please post a picture of the boys?
Mainly the fawn. And the biggest brindle.
I'm sure my wife would love to take a quick peek at them.
I know my wife would fall in love with them if they have all the right traits.
We could use a new giant in our home.
KC

Having looked at your website, your bitch and stud look awesome.
I still would like to see some pics of the puppies you're trying to sale.
Thanks again,
KC

That was Courtney's first and only post here. If you'd like to contact her, I would suggest reaching out to her via the contact information available on her website (assuming there is some).

I tried contacting her. Here and on her website. To no avail. So, while she seems to be protected and defended here, maybe someone else here on the MASTIFF forum will have better luck getting a mastiff from THIS mastiff breeder without correspondence from the breeder who posted HERE to acknowledge pups available. Riddled!?!?@&$&@
