Eatting Rocks...

Hey everyone

My dogue de bordeux puppy (3 1/2 months) loves to eat rocks from the driveway. I'm concerned about his belly, as well as his teeth since he tried to chew them. I go out with him, and most times he wont go near them, but a few times a week he'll grab a mouth full and start chomping.

I dont want to chase him and turn it into a "play" thing, and usually I can get him to drop most of them, but I wish he'd stop... Any ideas?

I dont know how long it last my girls do it as well along with dirt, boganvia, ocasional article of clothing, leaves. I remove them and say no, you have all the chew toys and rope a doggy could want, what's up, they just look at me as if to say, hey I found it it's mine.LOL!

Well, Sampson goes for dirt, leaves, and hair balls also, and while I do try to stop him, they dont bother me as much as the rocks (since I am concerned he will break his teeth).

A few weeks ago, after a visit with his grandparents (haha), he threw up a rock, a piece of mulch (from their yard, we dont have any in the back), a monster hairball, a piece of frog leg (a toy he was playing with earlier), and a piece of twig, not to mention the food he ate that morning... I thought I had a puppy, not a goat :)

My mom had the same problem with her EM are vet told us we had to stop her from eating them or she was headed for emergency surgery sooner or later cause they would eventually cause a blockage. I had a shock collar that I used to train my Em with. I broke my moms dog in two days of using the shock collar. Its been a year now and she wont even bother a stone or rock. My vet told me she is the only dog she ever seen broke of the habit. If all else fails try a shock collar but learn how to use it properly.
