I just welcomed a 7 almost 8 week dogo pup home after losing my corso last year. Hes almost 13 pounds...is that under weight because I tried using one of those stupid puppy calculators and it said hes 50% less than where he should be... is he in range now?

I wouldn't worry about it. My BM x DDB boy was just under 13 lbs at 7 weeks old when he got his 1st set of vaccinations according to the paperwork. He's now almost 40 lbs @ 14 weeks old.

I think most of the online calculators are useless. Based on my EM's weight at 11 weeks he 'should' have been a 60lbs adult. He just turned 2 and is 180lbs.

I have a new Dogo puppy as well. When I got him at
9 weeks he weighed 12 pounds and I too was worried he
Was quite underweight. He is four months old now and
    Weighs 40 pounds.

3 pounds of raw food per day Started off with about 2.5 when he was small.

he sounds about right. I wouldn't worry about it, honestly.
as long as he is eating good and healthy don't stress.

these 2 females were 57 and 59lbs at 17 wks.

    Hi,

I have a 9 month old female dogo and I am a little concerned about her weight, she weighs 63 lbs. I have been giving her 4.5 cups of Taste of The Wild plus some treats. She also is very active, 1 hour of playing with her friends in the morning, then later in the day a 3 - 5 mile walk, or run along side the bicycle, then another hour at night playing with her friends again.

Any suggestions on putting more weight on her? I don't want her to be fat just for the sake of putting on more weight, I'd rather it be muscle.

@Kahuna, if you don't mind me asking, how were you feeding yours raw? Do you have a recipe you use?

Welcome montekyrsto~ Be more concerned with body condition rather than weight as mastiffs continue to grow until 2-3 years of age.

Check out the sub forum, Raw Diet, in the health and nutrition which is loaded with great info and resources.

Can you post a pic of her standing from front, side and rear?

    Thank you Musicdeb and Kahuna!

@Musicdeb, here are some photos, I forgot the rear picture and will upload it later, Maya is passed out now.

Kahuna, I see you are in Brooklyn, I'm on Long Island, it would be great to meet another Dogo owner and have Maya play with one. Let me know if you are ever interested in meeting up.

She looks healthy. She looks like 4-5 on body condition chart, so she's good.

So I shouldn't worry about what she weighs? It seems that most other 9 month olds weigh between 75 - 90+(males).

I have a cousin in Glen Cove so that could still be on the cards, however we have now moved to New Hampshire. I need to update my profile!

    Good luck with your girl.

As long as her body condition remains in the 4-5 range and she's eating, pottying, playing, drinking and walking normally, she's good.
