D'Argo met a police officer today.

There was a police officer driving around my neighborhood because somebody had called in about a loose dog. She slowed down and asked if D'Argo was a Tibetan Mastiff. I told her he was and asked if she wanted to meet him. So she parked and petted his fluff, and he was very good.

Then she said she'd been to a dog show, and there was a male that looked like a lion. I was all, "That's his father!"

She asked if I'd ever heard of Caucus/Ovcharkas and, thanks to this forum, I knew all about them. She was from Europe and said they are used as guard dogs over there. Then we talked about guard dogs and livestock guardian breeds. She said she had one. A Corgi. :p

Anyway, it was nice that D'Argo got to meet a police officer. He met a firefighter at a baseball game once.

Cool story.

Tessa LOVES the firestation & the guys there. We used to walk by & stop a couple times per week-she got all kinds of rubs & treats. & they always have bowls of water out for the dogs.
She's seen/heard the trucks come in/out of the garage sirens, lights & all--so when she sees one flying down the street-she really watches. None of that freaks her out--but once a full body fire suit was on the floor with boots next to it & she really got freaked out-looked like a body laying there & she was not knowing how to react.

Poor Tessa, a presumably empty body...what to do? I know mine would have circled it huffing and darting back and forth until she knew it wasn't a threat. I expect the fire fighters all had a good laugh.

But good on D'Argo for sending out positive Mastiff vibes. We need such poster pups to build a good reputation for all Mastiff kind.

Yeah!
THIS is what police officers should do, in my opinion... get out and MEET the people they "protect and serve"...
Being educated about different dog breeds, sure isn't a bad thing, either.

So glad you had a great visit!

Always a good idea to have your dog on the good side of the law. :)

This reminded me of a few pictures I took about a year ago when Mateo cozied up to some of New York's finest. He's such a ham. :p
