Crate for Kuranda beds

Hi there, My name is Will, I'm a woodworker/carpenter based in Eugene, OR, and was hoping to get some feedback on a product I've built. A client of mine has a 1 y/o (and yet 200lb!) boerboel who loves his Kuranda (Aluminum XXL) bed and the client was looking for a more elegant way to integrate the bed with a crate. For this client (and his pup) I built the crate seen on my shop's page (https://www.facebook.com/willbuildshop/posts/1003374759730303). He's been so happy with the finished product that I wanted to reach out to a wider audience of dog owners for any questions, comments, interest, or other feedback that I can use while considering making a production model. As a loather of spammers, I hope this post is received as I intend: a respectful appeal to the community and not just some ware-peddling schmuck. Thank you for your time and any input you care to provide. -Will

That's really neat! Much nicer than the blanket covered plywood board set on top of the cage for my plants to get sunlight. Lol

Thank you very much :) My client also keeps a blanket over the top of this piece to limit light for dog sleeping; the next evolution of this crate will have a curtain track going around the underside of the lid to serve this purpose without losing the furniture affect of the piece. Again, thanks for the feedback. I look forward to learning more to better raise awareness and improve the quality of my product. Cheers, Will

Beautiful!
After our mastiff shredded any pillow-type bed we put in her crate, we found out her cool-a-roo cot-style bed fit... that one lasted until a treat dropped underneath it, and she kept digging until she broke through the mesh. :p
Your design would fix that issue - and provide a soft spot to reside without a shreddable pillow - in a beautiful piece of furniture. Great idea!

I like my guys to be able to stand up without their heads touching and it looks a little short for, say, and English Mastiff to do that. Gorgeous work though and a really great design. I would definitely pay for something as nice as that, although we don't use Kuranda beds.
