Conflicting Opinions on Workout: 2.5 month old Puppy

I might need to back-peddle here as the flirt pole and stairs may have been contributing factors to my dogs Elbow Dysplasia. Whatever you decide to do do it in moderation and make sure you use joint support if you see any signs of joint fatigue.

That lion is AWESOME! Those are some major muscles showing through. WOW!

As for exercise - I just followed Denna's lead... we did most of our workouts in the back yard as play, but we did start walks around the 'hood pretty early - but only as far and fast as she wanted to go. Early on, that meant maybe 10 minutes down to the end of the block and back. By 1 year old, she wanted to jog 1.5 miles (her easy trot, my jog). Yesterday in the "heat" of 72F at 11am (Seattle area)... she started drooping at about the 1.2 mile mark... and that was a walk in forest shade with her off leash... so, the season definitely plays a part with Denna (EM).

She got hosed off when we got home, with a fresh baby pool to wade in... which always perks her up. :)

I do try and get as much off-leash dirt/grass walking as we can, with less hard pavement structure - we have some trails around the 'hood that are good for that.

We have a flirt pole... but I have a hard time getting it going straight long enough... she always takes hard, sharp turns to keep up with the target... and that makes me nervous. I can just see her hind end slipping out on one of those turns at a bad angle... she's good when she catches it though - makes me think I'm lunging and horse around me in the yard. HA!

I think you may be just joking but will still say, you are aware that that is a dog not a cat?

Its one of thhose thinggs thats hard to quantify :/ we allowed Apollo to jump and climb and just tried to limit the DOWN jumping. We did weight pull with him as young as 6 months. Played chase. Etc.....and his hips are excellent and his elbows normal. Did great genetics over-ride our "bad choices"? Or did the muscle tone improve his hips and elbows? Theres no way to be sure.....

LOL just make sure it doesn't become the other way around where you're the one being flung around.

Just let him play and be a puppy. Explore things. Practice basic fun obedience. All of that will tire him out quickly. He is a baby.

Wow! What a gorgeous dog. Goats and sheep on the hills would be safe with this fellow around. Look at those eyes, lion coloured. Stunning.

Crespo is about 11 months old and yes he is unique. I wish I had a dog like that but his owner says it is secret if there are more.

Bailey's mother's eyes were that colour. I have a feeling that falling under that gaze would be rather hypnotic.
I'd like that big boy's address. Must ask sister-in-law if she's seen one like this near her place near Olympia.

As for exercise, Bailey's doing almost three miles three times a week through hill-and-dale woods. She's supposed to be exhausted after that but somehow still has energy to rock the house with the Rottie for an hour-and-a-half after. Both had done the walk, Bella the Rottie set a marching pace and Bailey the CC kept up. I expected them to crash -WRONG.
Good thing it's a mixture of sand, grass, wood chips, boardwalks and no concrete. Lots of climbing and therefore lots of going down but no jumping down. How do you wear one of these pups out? How much is too much?
