Bullmastiff Weight

Hello Everyone,

I have a almost 6 month old Bullmastiff named Jase. He is awesome! I do however have one concern. A little back story on him is that he was sick as a puppy with a infection contracted from the womb. He may be a bit under weight. He is approx 75lbs, but looks a little thin to me. I know most of you guys don't agree with this but I free feed him canidae all life stages dog food. We go through a 44 lb bag every 1.5-2 weeks. We also have a French bulldog but she doesn't eat much. When we had just her a 30 lb bag would last forever. I would like anyone's opinion on his look weight wise. He is active and doesn't have worms or anything. I just want to make sure his weight is right. It's my first bullmastiff and I looked at pics of his sister from another litter and she was way thicker than he is. image.jpg

He looks perfectly fine. These big guys can continue to grow for 2 and even 3 years and you don't want to put excess weight on his still growing bones and joints.

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure. I thought he looked good but when I saw a pic of his sister (from another litter) at 4 months old it made me feel a little concerned. I figured I'd ask on here to be sure. Thanks again.

Mastiffs are like kids, everyone's different! As long as he is eating and growing, there's nothing to stress about.

Genetics are weird how in the same litter the pups can look different and grow at different stages my pup is smaller than most of his siblings and he just doesn't seem to want to bulk out yet but we all know that nature will take its course and they will be what they were meant to be...
But I totally understand your concerns and worries I constantly think I'm under feeding my boy or that maybe something's wrong were just concerned parents lol
