How are you all doing?
Decided to post an update about Brindley, I was the one posting a couple months back about being concerned about her hips. I thank you all as this forum has been a wealth of knowledge about the breed.
Let me first off say that I have finally stopped worrying about her hips. I was concerned with the way she was sitting and walking, but now that she has grown into her legs a little more she's starting to look a bit more normal. We had the vet put her through a range of motions and they thought things looked good, although she is only at 5.5 months so it is still early. We plan on having her hips x-rayed when they spay her later in life (we will be waiting until after her first heat, probably not the second heat though). We have a neutered male dog and the neighbors have 2 male dogs as well so that could be interesting.
She is at 5.5 months old and right around 50 lbs. She is definitely on the small side, but she was the runt of the litter.
I have to say this dog is absolutely great, knock on wood. She has yet to chew anything in the house. She will grab a shoe or sock if we forget to put them away but she just moves them to another area, hasn't actually chewed any up. She seems to love people and love other dogs, however she gets scared of small dogs, lol, and dogs that bark or growl.
Housebreaking has been my one area for concern. We have now had her for just about 2 months and she has been tougher than any of my past dogs. I know every dog is different, but I really hoped that by this age we would have her fully house broken. She hasn't peed in the house for a number of weeks but its the pooping that is a problem. We have her crate trained and she poops right after breakfast in the morning and when I get home from work in the evening (outside) - I come home from work at lunch to let her out as well. The problem is that, we take her out in the morning and she poops and then we will take her out again and she will not poop, but when she gets inside and is left alone for a short period of time she poops on the floor. Same thing after work, I let her out immediately when I get home and she goes outside. I wait about 10-15 more min. and take her out again trying to anticipate a coming poop and she will not poop, whether we go for a walk or just go outside, but as soon as we come back in the house she will poop on the floor, usually close to the same area.
Any suggestions? Do you think she will grow out of this shortly? Do you think there is something about that spot and thats why she keeps going in the same place? I will be traveling to my parents house for Christmas in a month and both them and I would really like to minimize any accidents...
I am going to try and post some pics here as well.
