Hey! I helped someone!!! :) Yeah!!

All the time I spend here reading everybody else's posts must be sinking in!!! LOL!!

Denna has the same issue with heat - and we're in Seattle, where we don't get much. It hit 70F on Easter and Denna was panting like it was 90F out! Poor thing! At least one of us was happy to see the cool rains return. :)

I would cut back. Not because she's heavy but because she's eating the amount a 120+lb dog would eat and I'm assuming the excess poop is the food she's not using.

voidecho - rain on my parade!!! You're RIGHT!!!

I put the dates and weights in Excel (where I live), and I come up with 0.44lb/day between Feb and Mar, and then 0.54lb/day from Mar to Apr... which is right on the average that we saw, and others have posted here.

So... seems Bella is right on track.

Is my math off or yours Cindy? March 11th to April 9th is four weeks and one day, so we're talking a little less than four pounds a week. That doesn't seem ridiculous. I know I had a male EM, but these were his running four week totals for a while:

16.8
17.6
18.2
16.3
18.2
20.4
19.2
20.2
18.8

I don't think a spurt of 16 lbs is that nutz, especially if she was underweight to begin with.

MY math is off.....I counted wrong. I already feel better!! Sorry, sometimes I really am a ditz. I am still concerned though, regarding the size/frequency of the poops. How much do you think I should be feeding her? I gave up going by what it said on the bag because it just wasn't working for her. I was thinking about shaving about 1/4 cup off each meal????

Start with that and see how it goes for her. I know that if I fed to azzys appetite instead of using the bag shed be eating a bag a day at least!

I still think you're right about her storing and not using her food effectively....It has been at the back of my mind the last couple of weeks, and until you put it in black and white in front of me I couldn't connect my gut to my brain :)

You could also try the coastal catch as it has more calories than the Great Plains feast.

I am going to start cutting it back tomorrow, and I'm hoping that by splitting the cut between the 3 meals it won't be too noticeable to her, and that will give me a chance to evaluate her poops. I just want to be careful with her to be sure her weight is never an issue, because she was so malnourished and she loves the security of her food and her set meal times. I will also try the Coastal Catch.

Everyone has already said something really really useful for you, so right now i feel very useless :)

Anyway I think she's very beautiful and I don't find her fat, nay I like her very much ! And I wouldn't worry about the "irregular" growth. As far as I am concerned, my puppy would gain some pounds one week and twice or half the weight next week.

Keep posting pictures :p
