Backpacks!

It's coming up on State Park season here ... actually, with any luck we'll go tomorrow ... and I'm in the market for a doggie backpack. Most of the time when I search that term I get backpacks that a human wears to carry a tiny dog around. What I need is more like saddlebags. I shouldn't need to carry water, but something big enough to carry a small first aid kit, some treats, poo baggies, etc.
The other thing is that Oscar's coat is typical short-hair ... if the straps don't have padding or something, the nylon might rub him raw. so I'm looking for recommendations. I'd prefer it if you've actually used or seen the pack in action, but anything would be useful.
I tried the usual suspects already: PetSmart, PetCo, etc. but wasn't impressed.

We have one that's got for cheap on clearance but I really want one of the ruffwear bags. They've come very highly recommended by at least a dozen people.

Back pack, back pack, back pack back pack.

I'm so sorry. But I;ve read the title of this thread 20 times. And every time Dora the explorer pops into my head. Just thought I would share. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I've never seen a full episode ... I got caught once at a friend's house with Dora in the background and had to leave the room after 5 minutes. Something about hide and seek or something it drove me up the wall. Don't even get me started on Yo Gabba Gabba or w/e it is.

@OakHill: that looks perfect! It may take some work to talk hubby into it at $80, but they look really well made.
@SmartFamily: Ruffwear looks like the Cadillac version ... I'm thinking I'd have to catch them on clearance but I like the way the harness part is laid out.

ruff wear is good. Try smaller specialty stores, or our ranch store has some different brands.

I have one that I LOVE that I got for like $15 at Target for my Dobe, of course they stopped carrying them years ago, I wish I would have known, I would have bought several! It was an Eddie Bauer edition dog backpack. I think I have a pick of him in it...
