Please tell me this is a joke! I do not believe in crossing breeds esp for your own pleasure. It's just plain wrong no matter how funny the thought may be. Get two pups, one of each breed and live with them.

I don't think it would get that far. If the female was the Pom it would be cruelty to animals if possible and if the female were a mastiff, well my boy Pom is quite impressed with himself but I just don't think he could get the job done!
Yah, pretty much. Never mind finding homes for any additional pups in the litter....

I mind crossing very much. There are breed specific dogs for a reason. Crossing messes up the genetics and makes it impossible to determine predisposed traits, and you end up with a mixed up mess that you cannot sort out. Accidents, I can tolerate, but purposely crossbreeding is irresponsible and should not be encouraged. There are enough mixed breeds deposited in shelters because their owners could not handle them as it is. I have no issues with shelter dogs, most are wonderful animals and I have owned a few. But it is helpful to know what genetic issues your pet may have before bringing him/her home so that you can give it the best possible health care/diet/ enviroment, etc. Not to mention knowing what to expect for temperment which could help you safetly choose a breed for your family.

Sometimes there are very good reasons to cross breed my pup is a wonderful purpose made cross that's hell on wheels at 6 months old.. but his ped is filled with true working dogs for the last ... well forever.....crossing for the hell of it is dumb

Mastiff forum diet, I've actually lost a couple of pounds. It seems that I can't help but puke in my mouth, reading some of the threads we are getting. Get real people.

I don't mind purpose done cross breds, where there is a specific plan in the chosen pairing, where both parents have been health tested to the limits of science, and there is a plan in place as to what to do with the pups (beyond dump them/kill them/sell them for cheap) that aren't needed for the breeding program. That IS basically how we got the dog breeds we have today after all (minus the testing that wasn't availible).

Theres a place in Europe breeding Labs with Bernese Mountain Dogs for use as therapy/assist dogs. By the last account I had the mix was working prefectly for what they needed. That I'm ok with. But to say "I want this dog, my spouse wants that dog, lets cross them and get the perfect mix!".....no, just totally and utterly no.

Having grown up with parents who bred Poms this is a horrible idea. I have no doubt a pom could get the job done, trust me, they have the will of hercules and can accomplish some pretty amazing feats when they want to be little devils but the end result would be horrible. There was a chihuahua bullmastiff cross so, unfortunately, there can be a pom bullmastiff cross. Just don't do it. It does nothing for the breed. Here is a link to the chihuahua bullmastiff cross http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=790318. There was an ad that I saw with pomeranian, chihuahua and English Mastiff crosses. Can't find it now. Mom was an EM, dad was a Pomchi.
