great-dane-padded-leather-dog-harness.jpggreat-dane-padded-leather-dog-harness-2.jpg What's up Grazefull1. Never been a big fan of GD, but after a quick Google search this is the only one that really "stood out " from the rest. Pretty lookin nice dog IMO.

I like my dogs with substance which is why I went with the GM. Most Great Danes are too narrow/refine looking for my tastes. As for "show" I could care less so long as the dog doesn't have obvious conformation fault the same with color. Its all comes down to a matter of preference.

Anyway these are my top favs

For me, heavy set, very blocky head like the ones in the photos by grazeful. I love Harli's but I also love the deep blacks and the brindle. Ears should be cropped for me. Love the way they look but the GD's that are around here all look like they have greyhound in them.

A well bred GD should not look like a Greyhound but there are some GD here that have the very narrow head/muzzle that often makes you think of a greyhound. Just poorly bred dogs that started being mass produced after Marmaduke the movie came out. This is what a GD should look like in my mind.

Northern I like this dog. I like a cropped dog myself but I don't want to spend up to a year in taping, especially with the "heavier" breed dogs. Plus finding someone to do it is a pain. There were a few places overseas that did cropping up until this current year, now its banned.

He was still young but the breeder is in Lithuania. They have a number of beautiful dogs. Here is a link to the dogs they havehttp://www.greatdane.ru/eng/kennels/114/. The pedigrees are on the dogs and many of them have pictures on them.

I know that cropping is not as common in a lot of places but in Canada they still crop. I like the look much better and the cropped dogs are still winning more in the show rings. Same goes for the neos. Natural tails are allowed but docked tails (and usually cropped ears) are winning in the ring more.

Eh...not interested in the show trends, but I love the cropped look. The breeder I got Stone from says that three of her pups were cropped, I wanted to see pictures but she had none.....

For US danes I like them cropped, their Euro counterparts I can do either or. Same with the Neo although I would strongly prefer a crop, LOL.

Okay so unfortuantely I found out too late that one of the temporary profs that was here had a Merle Harlequin GD and he sent me some pics and he was gorgeous! I know not an accepted colour for show but he was nice to look at. That being said I love Harlequins and thought damn it I am going to look for one now and if I find one then it is meant to be :( I looked in Canada and the US and was disappointed in the Dane I saw, they weren't at all what I pictured when I thought of owning one. The HQ from above that grazefull1 posted is what I wanted to see and I didn't find any of those when looking. Now maybe I didn't look deep enough in NA but the imports still seem to look this way just not the ones here in NA.

Blackshadow, I feel the same when I first the "Euro" dane. I never even knew those types existed until I went browsing for another companion for Duke. I was simply in awestruck since then I've never looked back. Don't get me wrong there are some danes here that are "nice" but I will always prefer a Euro dane. Apparently the trend is starting to catch on in the ring as judges are picking dogs with small percentages of "Euro blood." I've seen danes like the one grazefull1 posted above but they were not of good stock IMO. Blackshadow which type of HQ are you looking for? Russian, German, French lines?
