Ok Chi - I took some time and read this really long thread. I don't want to fuel the fire here, but there are several things you touched on that hit home for me. I'm not arguing with you, or trying to 'hate' on you BUT...

I held my pup at 1 week old, great experience (sanitized of course).

I've spent over $10k on her health in 2 years from congenital defects, which saved her life. When I saw her multiple times between 1 week and 8 she was a 'happy healthy puppy'.

I cannot name 1 good (what I would consider reputable) breeder in Illinois, and believe me, I've done my research and have tried to find them. If someone knows one, for real, please tell me who they are.

I have had Saltwater aquariums, I just tore down my 75" because I found dog training more interesting and lost interest in caring for the tank.

It is against the law in Illinois to sell a dog to someone before 8 weeks of age.

Training is important, probably the most important thing you will do with this breed. Go to a trainer. However, there are temperament issues that will show up in your dog from 2 years old +. Those issues will be there regardless of the training, if they are in that breeding stock. Your time and training may help mitigate those issues, but you have purchased a beautiful dog that is extremely smart and was bred to be all bite and no bark. This is not your average dog. If this dog wants to bite someone, at 140lbs (and all muscle) there will be little you can do (if not trained right) to stop it. ALL Corso's have their quirks, their true temperament starts to come out a 2 years - THIS is the time when socialization & training is most critical and needs to be continued, with strangers, with other dogs, etc. If it's not done, good luck having friends over.

Check your contract - what does your 2 year guarantee get you? A replacement dog? That always has a red flag to me. All breeders advertise lifetime support - many have different definitions of 'support". BYB's support is useless.

At the end of the day, this is about a dog, a wonderful puppy that you picked out and will have a wonderful life with you. I/we love our girl with all of our hearts, she is an amazing dog and we're happy to have saved her life and grateful we were able to. I learned my lesson the hard way and more carefully choose my breeders, will ask the hard questions and will question every aspect of the health of their dogs and their contracts. Any breeder that is willing to send their pups home at 6 weeks (when the weaning process begins at 5 and the law says 8) has many more issues than I would ever care to work with and would question what kind of 'support' they can truly give.

Thanks Raechie, I just feel so left out :-( I really wanted to learn from his vast expertise and stuff. No one even told me he was on. I'm going to go cry in a corner now.

No, as much as I want it, I have to control myself. I'd probably fall head over heels for him and we would make such smart and educated babies, then we would retire off of all the money we made breeding our Super Champion, protein packed, un-docked CCs. I love my husband too much to put him through that and I just know that I wouldn't be able to control my urges.

I can't give it to you, he's too close geographically to you and I couldn't risk losing you to a Main East boy.

Yeah void, you can trust the words taken from someone who legally changed their name to the call sign on my package. Don't worry, it's true love. :p

LOL - us Bears fans have it hard enough... I get so sad hearing any BYB's are alive and well, scamming, providing false information and producing pups as much as they can. I wish Illinois would pass a puppy lemon law, a good one, not the beginning of what we have now.
