DIARRHEA!! "

Well it happened and it was going soo good! I'm pissed and a little bummed/defeated. :(

I'm not exactly sure where I went wrong either..maybe too much raw beef, a little too much liver. The only thing I know for sure is that I gave him about 3/4 lb of raw ground beef and a small handful (barely a handful!) of beef liver last night..later in the evening (7:00pm). And I come home home today to find he had diarrhea in his kennel. It was dark and had a jelly consistency.

I'm not going to give up although I considered it... I hate it when he gets diarrhea :( poor guy. But I want to make this raw diet work! So what should I do? Hold off feeding and let him fast for a bit? 12/24 hours? After which I go back to whole chicken only and then slowly add back in the organ meats? What should I do?

Sounds like to much liver. Skip the organs for a few days (and maybe give him a little extra bone) till he's been normal for at least 48 hrs, then slowly reintroduce them. Remember, not more than 10% of his daily intake should be organ and not more than half of that should be liver.

You might be pushing him a little fast over all TBH, don't introduce the new meat or organs till he's nice and solid on the previous ones.

Ok I'm pretty sure I was below 1/4 lb of liver the whole day...but your right, maybe it's still too much. He was doing so good....I'll get it right.

Some dogs are REALLY sensitive to it. If he ends up being one of those save up a couple days liver and feed it with a large boney meal (also subtracted from the two days worth) to help counter act it. But for the moment just give him some extra time to get used to it.

How much total are you feeding daily?

4.5-5 lbs daily is the target. .20-.25 lb of liver max...I was mixing a little liver in with the whole chicken and he seemed to be doing ok....maybe the raw beef/liver was just too rich of a combo.

Could be. It can be the little things sometimes.

It was dark and had a jelly consistency.
Had that happen with Stella when I gave her too much liver.

Yah, its a good description for the type of diarrhea that results from to much liver lol.

I say definitely the liver. We also have had that happen and discovered that our boy just cannot tolerate liver so unfortunately we avoid it all together. He gets very sick. Good Luck!!!

Yea, liver can do that to the pup. Try not to feed any liver for a few days. Poor pup... Poor mom...
