  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

What are you currently reading?

I'm reading "The Hunger Games" trilogy right now. I believe it's for young adults, but it is very good and I was told to read it anyhow. And I have to say that I am riveted to my kindle every night! Even though I can only keep my eyes open for about 10-15 minutes max before I konk out.
I flew through the Hunger Games trilogy and even wanted to name our new puppy Rue. I'm anxious to see how it will translate onto the big screen though.

LOL I totally wanted to name a pet or my next child Rue too! ;)
I'm halfway through the last book, and am looking forward to seeing how they did with the movie as well. I usually hate the movies (Twilight onscreen ruined my image of Edward for me and I hated the movies), but I always try to watch them with an open mind. I just like my own images in my head better ;)

Yea we decided against Rue for this puppy but I totally called the right to naming a child or future pet Rue haha. It's kind of disappointing it's only a trilogy but at the same time it was really well written. I read/own way too many vampire/werewolf/witch books or series, including a lot of young adult ones. Yep I'm a nerd ;)

I love books that go on and on too. That is why I love huge novels. I never want the story to end. I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series too because of this. I can just keep going and going with all the books ;). I like the same ones you do too it seems. ;) I've also read all of Charlaine Harris' Sookie series, and am a big fan of TrueBlood on HBO (although I cancelled HBO and didn't see this past season). And then I used to LOVE the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum Series as easy, fun reads. They have gotten too monotonous now, but they used to be a lot of fun. So I'm a nerd too ;)

Yea we are huge Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood fans in this house. This past season they really pulled away from the books in some aspects. I have the Black Dagger Brotherhood series or at least most of them but haven't read them yet. My husband gets mad at me because he says I have too many series I read haha.

you can never have too many series to read! ;)
I'm hoping to catch this past season through Netflix or something next year when it's old news. We'll see though. I didn't like all the fairy stuff anyhow. I wanted it to go back to focusing on mainly vampires and Bill.

LOL! OMG I think you and I have a lot in common ;) I have a couple of her's as well as a few other choice authors but just finish the twlight series so I am ready for the movies lol!

I have so many books at home that I have ready to read and it seems so little time to read them but every time I am out I seem to pick up another one.

Yes, Mary, I agree! I love her books! Wow! So many people that I know just don't seem to understand. Glad you do!

I find myself in the same situation and like you, it's hard for me to pass up books by my favorite authors! I just get them anyway and add them to the 'next up' pile (which keeps growing I should add). I really enjoy reading and always have - my son asked me the other day if I still like to read and I thought hmm...that's bad to hardly ever make time for something that I really love to do. There was a time that I would read a good novel in a day and a half!

Same here, before the babies and puppies arrived I used to get a couple of solid hours of reading if not a whole day in for a good book but time just isn't there anymore :( I try and get a couple chapters in at bed time just to help me un-wind but lol at almost 36 weeks along in this pregnancy by the time everything is taken care of at bed time I just crash. Am thinking of ask the doctor to keep me in a couple of weeks with this one so I can have a bit of a vacation ;)

Have you read any Julie Garwood or Johanna Lindsay books?

You both need a kindle or some other type of e-reader. I will admit to being a kindle junkie and don't read anything that could be misconstrued as self-improving. ;) Fantasy, mystery and novels - preferably not too trashy. I love being able to download a book whenever I want to and not have stacks of books all over the place.

Aw, I didn't know that you were expecting :)! Congratulations! I hope you can get that request for a 'vacation' fulfilled! We have to get in our rest however we can and we're usually not picky ;) No cooking, cleaning or involuntary shopping will be happening there so sounds like vacation to me. I'm with you!

Julie Garwood is one of the best! My favorite so far is The Gift, but I've enjoyed all of her historical novels - I think she dabbles in contemporary as well. As for Johanna Lindsey, she is my favorite of all the historical romance authors! Oh, my goodness, she is GOOD! I can't pick a favorite of hers. I have enjoyed so many of her books.

Dawn, I tried the e-reader concept and just couldn't get with it. I am old school in some ways, and that would be one of them! It's definitely more convenient and space friendly so I wish I could do it but it didn't work for me. Perhaps I'll try it again someday soon just to be sure.

We just bought my mom and kindle for mother's day last year and I thought I would let her use it for a bit and then get opinion as she is pretty old school too. :) If I get one and like it I will start to download my favorites for better storage and sell the books to a second hand source.

Julie Garwood is probably my all time favorite author whether it is her older ones that are historical or her more contemporary. I love them all :) I had all of them until the last couple of years when I got a little busy :) Johanna is also one of my favs and I honestly don't know that I can pick a favorite of her's either.

Thanks for the congrats it was a little unexpected this time :) but no less exciting for us :) The big argument is the name here! It was an argument last time and it will be one I am sure this time as well as Scott and I have completely different tastes.

I wish I had time to just read books for my enjoyment! The only book I've read that was half intesting was The Blind Side and that was for a Sociology class! Booo some of these books sound like good summer time books though! :p can't wait!

Just found this thread; interesting. I'll throw my 2 cents in... Beautiful Joe by Marshall Saunders; Red Zone by Aphrodite Jones; Everything's Eventual by Stephen King; and a little self-published book someone gave me called How to Hear the Animals, by Anita Curtis.

My eyes are so bad, though, that i can only read a couple of pages at a time, in bright light, when I'm not tired. I used to read for a couple of hours every night before bed; I miss it. It sucks getting old.

I have just finished the Hunger Games trilogy, enjoyed it alot and was pleased to see an author with a real understanding of how politicians really work.

Hello.
I am reading 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold for the second time and additionally I always look over 1-3 hours right before I go to sleep. It depends upon exactly how interesting the book is and regardless of whether or not I am tired.
How about you?
