Welts - Allergic reaction?

Phew! I have to say you were very brave to stick it out, I would have been scared to death. Just an afterthought...did you change any cleaning products by chance? Maybe you washed the floor with a new product or washed bedding with new laundry soap? New furniture polish by chance? My first thought was an allergic reaction and maybe you introduced a new product around the house.

Might be a good idea for those that have experienced their dogs having hives recently, to see if they are feeding or treating their dogs with the same thing.

That is what I was thinking, what is the common thread? Do any of these three dogs live in the same area?

I am in Southern Ca. in the mountains. Feed Taste of the wild for Kibble, Milk Bones for treats and raw meats and bones. Suppliments have been Turmeric, DE, MSM and Asprin. No more MSM or aspirin at this time.

Tucson here. No new meds, cleaners or detergents.
Our two year old walked up to us just the other day to show us the live scorpion he had on his hand. The wife bushed it off and stomped it. We haven't sprayed for those yet so that's not it.
We haven't seen any more but I think the reaction would have been much worse had it been a scorpion sting.
Still think it was a bee or the apple.

May I ask what type of aspirin you were giving her & why?

Ascriptin because of Pano or puppy growing pains in her right front leg. The VET also recommended it but wanted to give her Rimadryl and I said not a chance.

Oh ok. I just aspirin & I immediately thought Advil, ibuprofen, etc. Those are bad for dogs.

And yeah I'm not a fan of Rimadyl either.

My CC gets bad welts from long grass and Wandering Jew- especially in the Spring and Summer.

Once it got so bad I had him on Prednosone

When we get back from morning walks I wipe the inside of his legs down with a damp flannel- this keeps the worst of it away

Hmm, interesting. I have lots of wild grass growing in my yard but she had access to it all summer, so I think I will rule that one out for us.

What about oleanders? We do have one of those. Anyone else have one that's had the reaction as well?

All better.

Nope no flowers. Someone on a different forum suggested it is a kidney problem. His friend had a dog get hives so they gave it high doses of antihistamines and steroids. Then found a kidney problem and put the dog on a white fish diet that seemed to clear things up. I say the dog had the same hive problem as ours and the drugs set off the kidney embalance (known to happen with antihistamines). The hives cleared up just like ours and the fish fixed the kidneys.
